Arizona governor vetoes bill making gold, silver legal tender, saying the legislation could have resulted in lost TAX REVENUE
...

"While I believe the concern over a devalued dollar as a result of an unsustainable federal deficit is justified, I am unable to support this legislation," Brewer, a Republican, said in an open letter to state Senate President Andy Biggs.

Brewer noted that the "administrative and fiscal burdens" for taxpayers and the revenue department "remain vague." She also cited uncertainty over whether the legislation would have required the state to exempt transactions involving collectable coins and bills that were authorized by Congress and could be used as legal tender.

"This would result in lost revenue to the state, while giving businesses that buy and sell collectable coins or currency originally authorized by Congress an unfair tax advantage," she said.

Isn't there something in the bible about gold being money? Does anybody know the verse?

I am not religious, but it seems plausable that it might hold up in court. First Amendment and all.

If the system plays us, maybe we should play it.

You don't need a law for that. All the people have to do is REGARD it as a currency. Its that simple.

The lawyers can declare it anything they want, and tdo what they want to claim it partly theirs.
Remember, if its 'official' its taxable.

but making it legal tender would mean a debt offered is a debt paid.

do you understand what legal tender means?

While I believe the concern over a devalued dollar as a result of an unsustainable federal deficit is justified

We would like to keep all transactions in said dollars so our tax revenue is also devalued.

Some people will never get it.

Re: Arizona governor vetoes bill making gold, silver legal tender, saying the legislation could have resulted in lost TAX REVENUE
It would be very easy for a business to start accepting silver or gold coin for things and paying tax on that as they always do. Instead, $50 or $20 in gold is worth near $1500 and 50 cents is worth around $10. But silver and gold that were US minted are still legal tender but worth more intrinsically.

So yes, why don't people just do what they want anyway instead of waiting for lawyers (correction, attorneys) to say they can. Because they are serfs and are scared.

So the governor is saying that this is irrelevant?

U.S. Constitution
Section 10

1: No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation; grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal; coin Money; emit Bills of Credit; make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts; pass any Bill of Attainder, ex post facto Law, or Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts, or grant any Title of Nobility.

Robert Kahre already tried that. The IRS did not like it, so they kept hauling him back into court until they got a conviction.

Re: Arizona governor vetoes bill making gold, silver legal tender, saying the legislation could have resulted in lost TAX REVENUE
This bill was actually pretty good. It was the first to include a method for private mints to petition the courts for legal tender status. That would have created some jobs. While it did not allow private currencies to become legal immediately it was the first to give them an avenue to get legal. If the court had granted one company or more legal tender status they could have opened up a currency to Arizona citizens. This would put that company into a similar situation as selling medical marijuana in that they could sell in the state but still risk federal crack down. This would have been a huge benefit to people with Arizona residence.

Because she killed it, she needs to become the ex governor of Arizona at the next ballot.

Unfortunately most people do not realize this was the most important thing to ever cross her desk.

Brewer just took a big crap on Arizona.
