Re: Senate Sub-committee leak: Cash to be tracked whenever and wherever it is spent- ID to be required.
the police caught the boston bombers by tracking the GPS unit on the car they stole.

GPS units of course track your every move, but people love them and buy them.

GPS satellites are military satellites, they store the info of everywhere you go. Everywhere you have ever gone in your car will be stored indefinitely.
 Quoting: Council on Foreign Relations

GPS satellites do not track a GPS units.

The many satellites broadcast an out going signal that is picked up by the GPS reciever.

the location is calculated directly on the receiver and a map is generated from data stored on the GPS unit.

A common GPS unit doesn't broadcast any data back to a satellite. ( that would take a shit load of power and need an antenna to radiate the signal.)

However, some GPS units do have bluetooth and can transmit within a limited area.

In the Boston case, the cops would need to be within 20 feet of the car to read any data from the GPS. Something to think about.

So far it's just a feasibility study, but scary nonetheless!
 Quoting: wisc_natureboy

I periodically make deposits in the US and have noticed a recent conversion to ATMs into which you feed your deposits---directly, no envelope. It scans each bill or cheque, reads the amount, kicks back invalid deposits, etc... Presumably it would be easy for this machine (and likely already does) to track the serial numbers. I would venture to guess that it already does a basic sanity check against the serial number and the face value to ensure that the bill is part of a legitimate sequence.

Next, I noticed that to withdraw money, they started using machines that count the money out for the tellers. Again, here's an opportunity to track each bill by serial number as it is processed by the machine.

The only missing piece is the retailers in between the withdrawal and subsequent deposit into the receiving business' account. With enough longitudinal data, you could start to get a feel for the average velocity of a bill as it moves in and out of circulation in order to determine how many hands the bill has gone through prior to being redeposited. Consequently, you could get a good feel for how many untraced transactions occurred for any given bill from the time it leaves to the time it reenters the bank.

Ya know, maybe its time to track these people making laws like this. Tag em' and track them because they are dangerous.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1230442

Let's see, there are under 600 people that think they control 312,000,0000.

Tagging would be the nice thing to do....I personally think it's time to put a little lead in this game of tag.

I've been getting suspicious since the self-checkout machines have become more widespread.

When I was a kid, I remember only one store had the change counters. Now it seems all of them do. Using a credit card was kind of a hassle.

Some stores have started using PayPal Here, which just creeps the fuck out of me. I'm anticipating that soon you'll be able to link your checking account to checkout with just your phone number and pin.

And by pin I mean driver's license.
And by driver's license I mean fingerprint.
And by fingerprint I mean your RFID chip.
 Quoting: ssle

And by RFID chip you mean Mark of the Beast.

Oh, sorry...I went Religitard.

Good GOD, people...this was FORETOLD almost 2000 years ago.

Oh, that's right...THEY wrote the Bible. THEY knew they were going to have this technology THOUSANDS of years ago.

Sure.

Has NOTHING TO DO WITH DRUG MONEY! The government knows that small business owners who deal in cash can easily divert $50k to $100k per year into an offshore business account and not pay taxes on that money. More if they have an all cash business with high margins.

I've had general contractors offer me a 20 - 30% discount for cash in an envelope vs a check. More than a few Plastic Surgeons will discount work for a patient who pays with an envelope full of 100's vs a check. Remember these guys are in the highest state and federal tax brackets. To take home $1000 after taxes they have to make about 1600 or more to cover all the 1.9% here and 17% there and medicare and social security and workman's comp and unemployment. For a business owner, there is no one paying 1/2 of the bill you see for withholding taxes. Usually the employee pays 1/2 and the employer pays 1/2 of many of them. But when you own a business, you pay 100% of all the taxes that are normally deducted on you as an individual. Getting 10 grand cash you take home without paying taxes on it, when you're a professional earning over 150k per year, is like earning nearly 20k! Now you see why it's such a popular pastime of most business owners. The IRS knows this full good and well but it's almost impossible to catch them and prove it. They could always be paying back money the lent the business out of personal funds years back, etc. Like I said - proving wrong doing here is key and that is what frustrates the IRS so incredibly that they'd try to get this kind of stupid law passed.

I doubt it will pass for one very obvious reason. When senators and congressmen/women are taking money for "favors" on the Hill, their favorite thing has been cash for many years. They aren't going to give up those lucrative little bags of hundreds that some charge just for scheduling a meeting about an specific issue that you might want to influence them to vote on in a particular way

A former student of mine works for one of our US Senators.

This person informed me today that a certain sub-committee on competitiveness
has commissioned a study on the feasibility of scanning cash every time it is exchanged.

A scan of your real ID will be required to lawfully purchase with cash.

The stated goal is to eliminate terrorist funding,
counterfeit currency, and illegal drug trafficking.

One suggestion tossed about in committee would 'tag' certain bills as known drug money
and they would be rejected at the point of purchase.

Either way, everything purchased with a particular bill will be cataloged if this legislation makes it to law.

I hear you but you are missing the implication, U.S. currency used to be one of the most easily movable currency’s in history, every country used it & this is why it had value. It has already been clamped down on because of the super bills. It is a dyeing currency at this rate, more U.S. dollars in circulation than ever before right now in history and less U.S. bill trading hands right now than ever before in history.

It is not about how much you or I trade dollar bills between each other, that is not why the dollar has value, it is about the rest of the world and how they handle the dollar. People think we export money and are giving it away, in fact it is increasing the dollars buying potential not devaluing the dollar at all. If we kept those dollars in house, rather than exporting them all over the globe the dollar would crash the value of our currency at home.

The buying potential of the dollar is directly related to the demand of the dollar, no demand no value.
I'm only human, it's my biggest flaw.

We must all realize a sink a chair and a pillow are all luxuries of home and a soldiers helmet takes the place of all three.

I guess you forgot about the tattoo they do with lasers. They showed how they did it on apples of all things. The whole idea was around when the digital angel was talked about, I read the fine print.

They said, that the only reason people wasn't getting the chip was that they were scared of the pain. They thought the tattoo would get people to get it, because it did not show on the body, and didn't hurt doing the tattoo.

If they can do that, they can have it on everything, you would not know it. The new bill don't have the strips in them, at least the people I know that work in stores say.
In fact they said they looked phoney.

Who knows what they are don't, If they put it on things buy a scanner for yourself and others to check things, I am sure some one could find out.

This is wrong on so many levels, the money power says no problems, give as much digital cash as possible to governments, big biz, banks, the corrupt under control and welfare .gov voters/supporters, but cash for those who would support mom and pop stores/systems? Its wrong and wickedness, the digital cash is so far in advance of tokens/physical cash its obscene(futures/derivatives), that's how they manipulate/control commodities/markets etc, but tokens/gold/coins in peoples hands mean they are not in control, wake up, rice can be money, food can be money therefore what a community decides is money can be the medium of exchange.

1 Machabees 3:22
And the Lord himself will overthrow them before our face: but as for you, fear them not.

Baruch 6:15
Therefore fear them not. For as a vessel that a man uses when it is broken becometh useless, even so are their gods:

Revelation 13: [11] And I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns, like a lamb, and he spoke as a dragon. [12] And he executed all the power of the former beast in his sight; and he caused the earth, and them that dwell therein, to adore the first beast, whose wound to death was healed. [13] And he did great signs, so that he made also fire to come down from heaven unto the earth in the sight of men.

[14] And he seduced them that dwell on the earth, for the signs, which were given him to do in the sight of the beast, saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make the image of the beast, which had the wound by the sword, and lived. [15] And it was given him to give life to the image of the beast, and that the image of the beast should speak; and should cause, that whosoever will not adore the image of the beast, should be slain.

[16] And he shall make all, both little and great, rich and poor, freemen and bondmen, to have a character in their right hand, or on their foreheads. [17] And that no man might buy or sell, but he that hath the character, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. [18] Here is wisdom. He that hath understanding, let him count the number of the beast. For it is the number of a man: and the number of him is six hundred sixty-six.

Revelation 19 [17] And I saw an angel standing in the sun, and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that did fly through the midst of heaven: Come, gather yourselves together to the great supper of God: [18] That you may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of tribunes, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all freemen and bondmen, and of little and of great. [19] And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies gathered together to make war with him that sat upon the horse, and with his army. [20] And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet, who wrought signs before him, wherewith he seduced them who received the character of the beast, and who adored his image. These two were cast alive into the pool of fire, burning with brimstone.

[21] And the rest were slain by the sword of him that sitteth upon the horse, which proceedeth out of his mouth; and all the birds were filled with their flesh.

Revelation 6: [15] And the kings of the earth, and the princes, and tribunes, and the rich, and the strong, and every bondman, and every freeman, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of mountains:

[16] And they say to the mountains and the rocks: Fall upon us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth upon the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb: [17] For the great day of their wrath is come, and who shall be able to stand?

Jeremiah 18 [15] Because my people have forgotten me, sacrificing in vain, and stumbling in their ways, in ancient paths, to walk by them in a way not trodden:

[16] That their land might be given up to desolation, and to a perpetual hissing: every one that shall pass by it, shall be astonished, and wag his head. [17] As a burning will I scatter them before the enemy: I will shew them the back, and not the face, in the day of their destruction.

Too much black ops work flows through currency.

Doubt it will happen and requiring something doesn't mean people won't ignore that requirement.

It would have happened long ago that hard currency disappeared excepting that TPTB prosper from it in some way.
