Heaven is not a destination it is a state of being.

I'm talking about mainstream christian heaven/islamic/muslim heaven.

Who told you that Heaven was the only other place you can go after death? There are other places, each more disgusting then the previous, none of which I care to tread.

Isn't it obvious? It's so that people will be calm, non-revolting workers who wait until they are dead to be paid.

If you could go to heaven and NOT be dead, then everyone would know it was a lie! that's why you are told that you can only get there if you are good, if you pay the big man in the sky his money (tithing to the church) and are a good boy.
