with that said, I do't think people realize just how sophisticated the weapons that are freely prolifirating all over the region are, how dangerous these missions are, even with israel's awesome air-force.

Truth is, the reason *why* israel airforce and planners are so celebrated, is because of how risky these type of operations are. especially when it comes to Damascus which has one of the most sophisticated anti-aicraft defenses in the world because of state of the art russian hardware and advisers, plus of course the Iranian and even North Korean experts on the ground commands inside syria for many many years.

one small miscalculation in either planning or in execution, or just fluke defect in the aging F15 or f16 planes themselves and israel could theoretically lose multiple aircraft, with pilots captured

there are simply too many unknown variables and dangers in thi crazy region, plus once again the Russian SAM are very formidable even after two years of civil war.

so kudos to Iaf if they indeed pulled this off without any casualties on their sidem,
