In islam they aee called djinn. They are very much like humans but they do not have flesh as a physical body. Rather they are of a different vibration.
Djinn can see you when they want but you can not see them. Just like humans they can be good or bad.
Humans who use certain ritual to get in touch with so called spirits often fall pray to criminal djinns who can be mischievous, evil, ignorant or criminal.
Djinn, due to their vibration have access to more info regarding other dimentions than humans are capable of.

It is often these creatures who are channeled rather than aliens etc.
Very rarely djinns will tell the truth. This is because they are also bound within their culture and not allowed to reveal p ossible futures to human beings unless specifically instructed be certain bodies within their system. This does not however prevent the mischievous ones from playing with humans and tell them lies.

Do you remember Blossom Goodchild and her encounter with so called aliens? Poor woman fell in to pray of one of djinn who convinced the naive woman aliens were going to land.
Just a little bit of logic would have shown that such a thing is impossible for real events do not follow such childish behaviour.

Djinn are clearly explained in the Quran. Fasinating if one understands the full explanation but very difficult even for the very worthy.
Btw. King Solomon had captured and enslaved djinn and was using their extra ordinary powers to build his palace. This story too is in Quran.
