What is Christianity?
Is Christianity monotheism or polytheism?
Is there more than one way into Heaven?
What does it mean to be a Christian, exactly?
Is it enough to merely claim Christiandom?
Is it possible to fall from grace?
Are Christians required to obey Biblical law?
At what point does a Christian's belief affect another person?
What is a Christian's goal?
What is a Christian's purpose?
Is Christianity exclusive?(I.e. Can't be both Islamic and Christian)
Does Christianity allow for multiple objects of worship?
Does rejecting Christ's divinity still allow one to be Christian?
I have read a fiery gospel writ in burnished rows of steel:
"As ye deal with my contemners, so with you my grace shall deal;
Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with his heel,
Since God is marching on.

- Battle Hymn of the Republic
-------------------------------------
James 3:6-9

And the tongue [is] a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.

For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind.

But no man can tame the tongue. [It is] an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God.

I would simply state that Christianity is la fulfillment of the 10 commandments. If you look closely at the commandments one of the first things you will notice is how far off the target we are as a human race. If one seriously consideres the implications of disobeying the law, one would consider Christ, whom satisfied the requirement of the law, which states that none who disobey the law are fit to enter the kingdom.

Now you pose a series of questions regarding specifics that are elaborated in scripture, but I sence that you are looking for answers, as I did when I was but a doubter. I wanted to believe in God and his bible, but there was not enough evidence to convince me. None of my christian friends could change my mind. But I had a personal intimate encounter with God when I was by myself in thought, where I felt the presence of the Holy Spirit wash over me. I then picked up a bible and the words came alive; jumped off the pages in a way I have never known before. The words were living, breathing and I could not deny that they were the words of God.

You see, up to that point I was looking for someone to convince me of the existance of God while I was prideful in my own assertions that the Christian God was merely a pagan myth. That Jesus was just a copy/paste of older beliefs. God is not in the clouds looking down on us, He is quite close. If you sit in silence you can hear His soft steady voice calling you closer unto Him. It is wonderful when this becomes a reality for you.

I am not here to convince you of any of this. I only hope you may have an experience like I did. But one word of advice; humility is the key to see Him.

Blessings

sdavis642,

These are to stimulate intellectual thought.
My real brothers and sisters know all of the answers to these questions, but the questions in themselves are excellent teaching points.

Praying Lord Yeshua keeps you safe and well.

Christianity is not some man-made set of rules, like all the other RELIGIONS of the world. Christianity is a RELATIONSHIP with the Creator. RELIGION is following a set of rules and ceremony pertaining to a CONCEPT of a god. Let me set things straight... Christianity is totally based on a RELATIONSHIP that has been established with JESUS the Son of THE Living God, and it's fulcrum is the fact that Jesus paid the DEBT that we could never pay. Jesus was the PERFECT sacrifice that made ATONEMENT once and for ALL. It is a free gift!! Jesus says Come and receive ETERNAL LIFE from Me...

I'm familiar with that site. There are many, many NDEs posted there. Mine is even on it.
Sorry, you can't pick and choose when it comes to NDEs. I find (and I've done MUCH research on NDEs) that the NDE is most likely a spiritual sensing of the essence of our lives here on earth. Some do experience "hell", but when you research you find these people led selfish lives.
Myself, I rejected Christianity and God, yet I retained practicing the Golden Rule simply because it's a decent way to live. My NDE was a wonderful, joyful experience. I follow no religion and have learned it's not what you believe, but what's in your heart and how you treat others.
I have a feeling you won't believe me, and that's fine. Just remember...the Golden Rule.

That's a lot of questions, and you might get just as many different answers asking here because a lot of people tend to answer based on their own personal beliefs rather and/or misinterpretations of the Bible.

These links should be helpful in answering your questions:

[link to www.vatican.va]

I think most, if not all your questions can be answered in the above links, but if you are looking for another source, Bishop Fulton Sheen is a good one. He had a television show in the 50s and he is brilliant - you can find a lot of his show on youtube, and a lot of his works are also published.

Absolutely! Christianity is a relationship with Christ who is, as he said, the Way, the Truth, and the Life. What he asks of us is love. Not emotional or romantic love - self-sacrificing love - which, you will come to find, is the meaning of life. It's very simple, but not at all easy to live out on this fallen planet. Every day is a journey to strive deeper into a relationship with Christ and deeper into love.

A religion set up by Saul the false Prophet/The Catholic Church. Christianity is Mystery Babylon and has nothing to do with the true Way, it is just lawless, apostate Pauline false doctrine. Yeshua never came to set up a new religion, that was Saul's job. Yeshua just came to fulfill that which was already there, namely the law of Moses.

^^^^^^^^ THIS!

As you may find described if you dig far enough into the Catechism (the link to which I shared above), this is EXACTLY how God works to pull us to him. Once you open yourself to him in faith, when you are ready to know who he is, and you open yourself to him (Directions for doing this can be found in the Gospels) he reveals himself to you. But, as Jesus says, you have to have faith - even if it's just a little tiny bit at first, he will work with it and he will send the Holy Spirit to you and he will reveal himself to you - either a little bit or a lot. And, then a cycle can begin where his revelation leads you to deeper faith, and that deeper faith leads to deeper revelation. (Though, at times he does let us go through periods of spiritual dryness to test our faith - but in the beginning you will be given 'spiritual milk' like a newborn baby who can't chew solid food yet.)

Bottom line - if you are thinking about opening yourself up to Christ, sit down and read one of the Gospels. (I kind of like Matthew and John for enlightenment, but just let the Spirit speak to you - ask the Lord for guidance - he knows you best.) And just see what happens.

Does the Truth hurt? How exactly is my view distorted of who 'Jesus' was? And how do I have very little understanding of the early church? Yes, I reject Mystery Babylon and have come out of it like the Father told us too, He took me out of it and opened my eyes to it's deceptions. And I have as much right to answer the OP's question as you do.

And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. Revelation 18:4

And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. Revelation 17:5

The Catholic Church is the Mother/Whore of Babylon and all the Protestant Churches are her harlot daughters. Most of them are completely lawless and apostate and have no inclination of the true Way.

Yes, MOST are deceived, but there is a remnant within the Vatican walls and the Catholic Church that are pure. Many who think they are on the straight and narrow path will be part of the multitude that hear the words "I never knew you..."

We must pray for these souls and especially our own that we do not hear these words as well.

Re: What is Christianity?
Christianity is God manifesting Himself 3 different way in order to make it easier for us to know him.

the Trinity is God--like an entire family is a force to reckon with vrs just the Dad.

The Father----the Head of the household---His rules.

The Holy Spirit-the conscious-very strong feelings--like Mom perhaps.

The Son-------Jesus Christ--The Teacher--like a big brother that will give His life for you, teach you how to please Dad and how to be wise in this world.

---
God is brilliant.

Christianity is system of thought to enable you to have a relationship with God

---who by the way can manifest Himself in as many things as He sees fit.--the Trinity should not be a stumbling block at all.

He is still one God.

just wearing different hats , if you like.

because he loves us and wants to save us from the Godless seculars out there.
