Breaking news: Traffic from Syria Disappears from Internet
At around 18:45 UTC the OpenDNS resolvers saw a significant drop in traffic from Syria. On closer inspection, it seems Syria has largely disappeared from the Internet.

Currently both TLD servers for Syria, ns1.tld.sy and ns2.tld.sy are unreachable. The remaining two nameservers sy.cctld.authdns.ripe.net. and pch.anycast.tld.sy. are reachable since they are not within Syria.

Umbrella Security Labs, which is the threat research division of OpenDNS, also reported on an Internet blackout in Syria November of 2012, where we shared details of the top 10 most failed domains during the outage.

Expect updates from our team shortly.

Syria said it was a "cable problem". Also phone communication down in some areas. [Reports said electricity and mobile phone networks were also cut off for several hours in certain parts of Syria]

SAA started some very large operations about 12 hours ago, many SCUDS fired. So probably that was the reason why they shut it down. Very less info from Damascus and other cities.

Now there are no major news out of Syria.

Last year in november internet was gone for 3 days.

"The world will soon wake up to the reality that everyone is broke and can collect nothing from the bankrupt, who are owed unlimited amounts by the insolvent, who are attempting to make late payments on a bank holiday in the wrong country, with an unacceptable currency, against defaulted collateral, of which nobody is sure who holds title."

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

Gas 'em all,
Gas 'em all.

Gas all those Jihadi's and Salafist cunts,
Gas all those Chechen mothers and their bleedin' sons,
Cos' we're saying goodbye to 'em all.
And back to their shit holes they crawl,
You'll get no promotion this side of the ocean,
So cheer up my lads gas 'em all

Syrian army recaptures strategic southern town
DEBKAfile May 8, 2013, 1:01 PM (GMT+02:00)

After a two-month bombardment, the Syrian army Wednesday recaptured from rebel fighters the Horan region’s Kirbet Ghazaleh which sits athwart an important transit route to Jordan and is key to the town of Deraa where the anti-Assad uprising erupted in March 2011. Syrian opposition forces accused the Jordanian-backed rebel military council of failing to supply the town’s defenders with the weapons needed for repulsing Assad’s forces.
