What does that say to you?

Re: Owls
Pallas Athene (or Minerva to the Romans), the goddess of wisdom, honored the owl as her sacred bird.

The owl was recognized as an emblem of penetrating sight and intelligence. It was considered to be a favorable omen if an owl was spotted on the battle field or at times of crisis.

The Athenian silver tetradrachm bore the owl (Athene noctua); and owls were protected and thrived in great numbers at the Acropolis of Athens (a temple dedicated to Athena).

Re: Owls
im going to keep this thread alive because it was at the very bottom of the first page when i loaded and nobody has commented on it in a way that is meaningful to the op.

owls are nocturnal hunters and their eyes and ears are evolved to see a much wider spectra of emission than humans are able to perceive. an owl's range of sense greatly exceeds that of the average human and because of this they have been long viewed as a sacred animal. ghostly, even ephemeral by some admission.

classically, owls have been employed as a biological auto-detektory object; a living organism that acts as a detector where scientific instrument either fails or has not yet been invented. their evolution has allowed for a much wider range of sense than that of human nature, and therefor, their abilities have been deemed as such: supernatural.

feline, rodentia and some marsupial classes share the same characteristics. they are active at night and can easily see what is 'unseen' by their sapient masters.

[link to en.wikipedia.org]

While it is commonly believed that owls have such great nocturnal vision due to their large (and thus very light-gathering) eyes and pupils and/or extremely sensitive rod receptors, the true cause for their ability to see in the night is due to neural mechanisms which mediate the extraction of spatial information gathered from the retinal image throughout the nocturnal luminance range. These mechanisms are only able to function due to the large sized retinal image.[18] Thus, the primary nocturnal function in the vision of the owl is due to its large posterior nodal distance; retinal image brightness is only maximized to the owl within secondary neural functions.[18] These attributes of the owl cause the nocturnal eyesight to be far superior to that of its average prey.[18]

Re: Owls
In the culture of the Uto-Aztec tribe, the Hopi, taboos surround owls, which are associated with sorcery and other evils. The Aztecs and Maya, along with other Natives of Mesoamerica, considered the owl a symbol of death and destruction. In fact, the Aztec god of death, Mictlantecuhtli, was often depicted with owls. There is an old saying in Mexico that is still in use:[32] Cuando el tecolote canta, el indio muere ("When the owl cries/sings, the Indian dies"). The Popol Vuh, a Mayan religious text, describes owls as messengers of Xibalba (the Mayan "Place of Fright").[33] The belief that owls are messengers and harbingers of the dark powers is also found among the Hočągara (Winnebago) of Wisconsin.[34] When in earlier days the Hočągara committed the sin of killing enemies while they were within the sanctuary of the chief's lodge, an owl appeared and spoke to them in the voice of a human, saying, "From now on the Hočągara will have no luck." This marked the beginning of the decline of their tribe.[35] An owl appeared to Glory of the Morning, the only female chief of the Hočąk nation, and uttered her name. Soon afterwards she died.[36][37] People often allude to the reputation of owls as bearers of supernatural danger when they tell misbehaving children, "the owls will get you."[38] Also, in the native Cherokee culture, as well as many other Native American cultures, owls are a very bad omen. It is said that if you are outside in the broad day light and an owl flies over your head a family member or loved one would die within the coming week.

I would love it. I'm fascinated by them and was fortunate enough to see a white owl while hiking a few weeks ago.

They have spiritual status in Native American culture. Keeper of sacred knowledge.

Re: Owls
Speaking of owls....I got an owl story.

I was driving on a mountain at night, going to Jackson hole wy, and all of a sudden this huge owl flew right in front of my car. I stopped short. Didn't feel/hear that I hit it. I just sat there for a min freaking out. Then all of a sudden it very very very slowly lifted straight up from the front of the car, with its wings spread open/wide. It laws looking straight at me as it drifted up and then flew away.

I ended up in the hospital that night from dehydration/mountain sickness.
Was out of it for three days. (Not that that means anything, but it was the same night)

I ended up getting a tat of an owl.
