Pretty sure your stupidity would block the gamma rays for most of the solar system.

Or perhaps your sideways moon is blocking them with angular distortion

LOL, New Zealand retard, but reading is beyond you I guess

but to answer your question, its the oxygen and nitrogen from the exosphere down to the "ozone layer" (lower stratosphere) serve to stop gamma radiation coming from outside our atmosphere.

What chemically happens is that the diatomic molecule is shattered, and the two nuclei go skittering off to lower altitudes, to dissipate their excess kinetic energy. Some lower energy photon is scattered away from the collision (net random direction), and if the photon is still energetic enough, will repeat this process with another molecule

Science bitch

Now, lets see.

Some says that Gamma Rays can be stopped by the Earth's Magnetic Field.

Other one says the only way to stop these kind of rays is the Lead.

The dumbers usually says its the Ozone Layer

Looky looky what this article say:

HOW MUCH IS TOO MUCH: Not all of the radiation from a solar flare reaches the earth at the level where we live, but commercial aircraft fly at much higher altitudes where the earth's magnetic field is weaker. So higher levels of radiation may be present.

I said exosphere down to the ozone layer

Perhaps you would learn more about science if you read whole sentences not single words (or flags)

And not all radiation from the sun is Gamma, so what's your point.

The sun mainly produces X-Ray and Infrared.

Go read some books.

Now lets see what wikiBS says about that:

------------------------------------

Life surviving an initial onslaught would have to contend with a potentially lethal aftereffect, depletion of the atmosphere's protective ozone layer by the burst.

For example, if WR 104 were to hit Earth with a burst of 10 seconds duration, its gamma rays could deplete about 25 percent of the world's ozone layer...

I said exosphere, I did NOT say the ozone layer stopped Gamma, I said from the exosphere to the ozone layer.

umm is the Oxford Dictionary of Astronomy an ok source?

Gamma rays have the shortest wavelength and highest frequency of all EM radiation. Only the very highest energies can reach the surface, the rest are absorbed by Ozone in the Earth's upper atmosphere. Gamma rays are produced in areas of extremely high temperature, density and magnetic fields. Gamma ray observations were first taken in the 1960s on the Apollo and Ranger missions. The first sky surveys were done in the 1970s by the SAS-2 and COS-B followed up by the HEAO satellites in the late 70s and Granat in the early 90s. Gamma rays of above 100GeV require instruments larger than can be carried on satellites and for these energies the Earth's atmosphere itself is used as a detector, with optical telescopes used to record the Cerenkov radiation produced by the photons.

But you don't believe in Science so what possible link could I provide that will answer your question.

I would absolutely LOVE to hear YOUR theory on what stops Gamma. Have you got one, or do you just KNOW the current theory is wrong.

So YOU tell ME how your idea disproves the explanation I have provided

I simply went into a bit more depth and explained how Ozone(O3) interacted with Gamma and blocked it in the upper atmosphere(exosphere), The excerpt above clearly state what I said, Gamma is blocked in the upper atmosphere
.I clearly just confused you by explaining HOW it happens

Still waiting to hear your theory on how Gamma is blocked, do you have one?

Re: Earth: How Gamma Rays Are Blocked From Space?
Anyway you have to know that the Ozone Layer is in the Stratosphere.

After Stratosphere comes Mesosphere, then Thermosphere and FINALLY the Exosphere.

And Ozone(O3) in the Stratosphere do not block Gamma Rays

(If you don't agree, post references stuff here).
