Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24537404 It's a bit much to expect her to "touch his heart" -- did he do his homework? NAH! Very poor attempt at deflection 404, it's difficult when he's right. I hope she is embarassed enough to start actually teaching. |

I can't recall of having a shitty teacher though. Well, there was this biology teacher that was my cross country coach. Boy, talk about shitty coaching. He doesn't have a frigging idea about CC and he drives around in his car and smoking cigarettes following us around. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 38879266 United States 05/10/2013 03:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | this teacher is guilty she doesnt even give him the curtosy of a constructive counter argument , and that is where it all stops , if you treat students as inferior beings they will withdraw and eventually someone will grow a set of balls and challenge you. Quoting: ozymandias THat was the point, to me. The teacher seemed to be TOO STUPID to even understand - or care - about what the kid was talking about! Just sat there and waited for him to quit his rant (like he was wrong or something). AMAZING!!! |

Just sat there and waited for him to quit his rant (like he was wrong or something). AMAZING!!! Yeah, it's nice to hear an articulate young man express himself...everyone should try teaching for about a month...what you find is that kids arrive at school and have needs far beyond the scope of the contrasting needs of all the other students... Smaller classes would help most of the major probs.... There is absolutely no way of knowing who was in the right and who was in the wrong...this vid just shows the student having a moment.... I thought she was incredibly professional.... When was the last time someone aggressively challenged you in your professional setting and how able were you to be calm? |
derdeder User ID: 12170896 United States 05/10/2013 04:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | That kid is 18 years old and a sophomore. He'll be 20 when he finally graduates high school. The first think the kid needs to learn is that his education is HIS responsibility, his and his alone. It is not the responsibility of the school, the teacher or his mother. I've told my own children, as well as the children I've taught, that if they encounter a bad teacher they need to do everything they can to get a schedule change. If that doesn't work, they need to either learn the material on their own, or find a friend or another teacher to help them through it. Don't waste time assigning blame on a situation you can either correct or at least mitigate. No matter where you go, there you are. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 15865294 Germany 05/10/2013 04:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I don't know how I feel about this. I was with him until he said "some kids don't learn like that". I've had first hand experience with the inferior education people get when you start teaching to "learning disabilities". (Two siblings forced into an alternative program when they were fine, and then not being able to get into college.) No, the teacher did not offer a response and was dismissive, but she did not raise her voice or lose her cool. What should her reply have been? What could she have said? This kid seems really entitled to me but he certainly does have a point. Maybe its his mannerisms that turn me off. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 27229018 United Kingdom 05/10/2013 04:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | However this has been going on for years. I was at skool over 40 years ago, and I would say that about half my teachers had a similar attitude to this one - couldn't give a f***. I'm horrified when I think back. The main problem other than the government pay cheque (check), gold plated pension, long holidays and total job security, was the fact that they spend hours in the staff room bitching about their jobs. The shear numbers of public sector worker being supported by the private sector have become like a parasite that eventually kills it's host. Our civilization is going the same way as all the others that have gone before. Extinction! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 39605387 Australia 05/10/2013 05:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I went to a bday party a few years ago and the majority of people there were teachers. We left early because the only conversation was complaints about work. I couldn't believe it. Talk about whinge. If it wasnt the kids it was the hours. If it wasnt the hours it was the pay. They bitched about the curriculum. I never heard a single positive thing said and our conversation on the way home between four of us was wow what a miserable bunch teachers are. Pity the poor kids who have to go to school and listen to it! |

I recall teachers who just gave out material to be read, worse still printed material we had to copy out word for word in our own hand. We also had a teacher who used to put his hand up 12 year old girls skirts IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE CLASS. I'm with the kid, who spoke with the passion his teacher TOTALLY LACKED! |

Prob that kid and some people with a real hateon for teachers are dealing with some other emotions in the background? I just think back (40 years) and see that nothing has changed. Education (like most gubberment entities) is disproportionately represented by spongers and assholes. It is akin to cancer. I guess as the saying goes... You go to college to get laid, you go to the library to get an education. I have known a few good teachers and a few mediocre. I can not count how many times I've met uneducated wasters like this masquerading as teachers. |
