I understand what you are saying and it is indeed a good point but most nerdy scientific types have the intention to do good with their works. I believe that the entire system is way too compartmentalized, rigid, and specialized. In my opinion the entire education system needs to be reduced into only 5 really important and general categories as to promote fluidity and cohesiveness. For example we do not need history class. The past needs to be forgotten so we can move forward. Now the Zoverlord might present the dilemma how does one define "good" or "bad" because he fancies himself some sort of dark knight uber-philosopher. Look up Charles manson and you will see where the overlord is coming from. I am currently pursuing a physics major at my university and the professors are usually always open minded to new ideas. They definitely don't ever have any intention of harming another human being but when you over-compartmentalize the outcome could be dangerous for humanity. The perfect example is the manhattan project which developed the nuclear bomb.
