Thank you, AC, for "and morning..." Wonderful read to start the day. It read almost Shakespearian and one could imagine the head of Puck darting in and out into the poem.

Again, thanks for a fine read.

Re: Because I'm a Poet - A Poetry Thread
Thank you, October. Always my favorite month as I look toward Fall for new beginnings rather than embrace the obvious birth pangs of Spring. Something about the crisp air in October fills me with hope and puts a bounce in my step. In any event, thanks for your kindness.

Most of what I write here is shit. I read some threads (most recently the Zimmerman stuff) and spew some stuff down here. No rewrites or edits, just words. I get a kick out of it and I'm glad the constants on this thread remain.

I've enjoyed your poems (it's clear to see you're a lovely gentle heart) and Electric's work as well. I do hope the two of you arrange to meet each other outside of this netty world. An Electric October despite the fall. Move a muscle and change a thought. I'm not slouching toward my geritol years yet, but I've seen some things and know that life is full when we take leaps and worry about catching a branch on the way down. Caution to the wind and all that. It's a priviledge to watch your white gloved dance from the corner of the gym. Here's to hoping you take the gloves off and arrange a meet. I wish the best to both of you.

Thanks again, October. A comfortable warm sweater of kindness against chill winds. You are.

Re: Because I'm a Poet - A Poetry Thread
People in my neighborhood were rock bottom broke
But they always found the money for booze and smokes
Played the daily numbers from the bookie man
Only thing they ever hit was the road on the lam

My best friend was lazy-eyed Benny
His sister showed her coolie for a buck and a penny
When we asked why she charged a penny above the dough
Little Josie said, "those fuckers work to see my show."

Me and Benny jacked a truck when we were ten
Swagged fifty cases of Bourbon and dodged the pen
For two weeks me and Benny were kings
I hid some money to buy Josie a ring

Their last name was Fargo but nothing was well
Their drunk ass father was a preview of hell
He'd beat little Josie and Benny too
With the sharp cleated heel of his Cuban shoe

Little Josie said it's time to make him dead
Told brother benny they'll get him in his bed
"Joey Chiappetti gave me a gun for a lick
We'll shoot bastard through a pillow it will be real quick."

Lazy-eyed Benny and Josie ran away that night
The coppers wrote the killing as another domestic fight
Haven't seen the Fargos for thirty years
But I still hold the ring and face my fears

Re: Because I'm a Poet - A Poetry Thread
Shaking the walls of my arteries is the pulse
Electric blender inside the veins
Turning daylight into powder
The compression of a full-stroke rhythm
Bouncing against my flesh
Rocketships racing through the spine
And hunted by no one.

When the prison brought tears to your eyes
Feeling the dull aching of each other
There was anything but escape
We would look out past the atmosphere
Counting raindrops as if they were sheep
In dreams that we could never really wake against
Yet ingenuity
Intellect, emotion
Is like this way of travelling
A vacation prepared by the gods
So that we can stop reliving the dread of the industrial
These combustion engines that choke us in their exhaustive drives
We’ve become an efficient wheel
A self-sustaining shadow fills our blood
Breathing in us all the oxygen
And giving energy seemingly from nowhere.

i have had to cancel my account temporarily. my intent is to come back identified once again as soon as possible. until that time i will remain an AC avidly dancing in my little hidden room...considering all that is possible out there...on the open gym floor. rose

Karmic restitution. You cannot say that when you die you are no more, as, you cannot say, “tree after you, then nothing else.” Countless variations. Woven, freely and purposefully given.

This is where I cut myself off, knowing that it is folly to continue. There is never a rush with this. It comes and it goes, ebbs and flows as the oceans.

It falls flat and I say so be it. I let the chips lay. Be that as it may. … I know, I can hear that one too.

This is for and me and you, not you. I twist these words into a tight knot. A random exposition. I see it.

OH MINE JAH! this is sooo good! such a story and you grabbed my attention at the get go and kept it the whole way through. no doubt you do - face those fears, you know?

going to have a minute of fun here, hope you don't mind...

we lived on the industry road
between chicken farm and auction
friends were few and far between
didn't get to see them so often

becky was my best friend
she lived on the dairy farm
she knew all about those baby calves
and how to keep hay rolling warm

she had an older brother, see
obsessed is what he was
wanting to touch all of her fancy places
in the loft right up above

their last name was known about
our tiny river town
becky she never showed a sign
of all that she had found

but one day she boldly pointed
to the hay-loft of curiosity
up she stepped and turning
she clearly beckoned me

'tis true i climbed that ladder
'tis true i took a look
'tis true i never did forget
but perhaps that is for the book!

Nice to you, friend October. Great read. "Between chicken farm and auction" is a short story unto itself. I like that blowsy becky and her hump brother probably went on to work for the government. In any event, it was a romp of a read. That's the juce, October.

I read Lazy-eyed Benny and it's a jellyfish lacking bone excepting the below (which would need much more reworking):

"He'd beat pretty Josie and black Benny blue
With the sharp cleated heel of his Cuban shoe"

What I enjoy about this thread - in addition to hearing the voices of others - is that I can drop a thousand words and if six or eight are worth keeping than I'm the better for it.

Grateful to all here. Best to you, October.

I climbed your rounded hill today holding a tomato on the vine
I watched the juice roll down your chin my lovely Oni mine.
You sucked out all the juice at once and spat out all the seeds
When you do these simple things you bring me to my knees

Brian lost his job again and Bobby went to jail
We always prove them right again when we fall and fail
Rosie left her husband he cheated with a nurse
Megan's son came home again just to clean her purse

You stroke your hair with the grace of a ruby throated thrush
I look at you and only wish that I could be your brush
When my ship is sinking and the oily water's on fire
To sit beside you on broken dreams is all that I desire

I am a neighborhood watchman
My windbreaker's way too tight
I've roamed the streets five months now
Never wanted trouble or a flailing fight

That guy in Florida went and done it
He ruined the night life for me
Now it's home with me and Ma
Fuck them and their property

Went to the grocery store tonight
and stood in the check-out line
There was a pretty girl in front of me
but it was too hot to make some time
She had a straight-edge razor
hidden in the crook of her dainty arm
The heat had taken a toll on me
I didn't trust or wield my charm

100 degrees in the shade
the weather heads do scream
If it was cool I'd meet that girl
and live an hour's dream
I could see that she held passion
besides her ghetto knife
The kind of girl who'd bite my neck
and make a lovely wife

I keep a loaded duffle bag
on my fire escape each night
It has no team affiliation
shows no history when in flight
I'd bring that straight-edge razor girl
On the lamb with me
We'd wash our clothes in rusted sinks
and slash uncertainty

yes. i wanted to see
so i positioned myself accordingly
absolutely putting away all fear
i kicked aside the hindrance of doubt
and by singularity's will i looked
yes. i looked closely
closer still until i began to see
a story in the crystal swirls reflecting
of blue skies and misty grey seas
where passionate winds purposefully seek
the heat of blazing fires
and then i realize i am no longer outside
looking in
I AM IN riding this adventure
with my eyes wide open
and becoming this that i see
and i want
i want you
yes. i want you to see
the story
with me...

The lost, the found their time depart
New lapse, new friend clueless new start
Of fealty, woe to show you know
Of shelf, within come tomorrow

Today's beckoning, breathing 'gain
Asking, yielding, when, oh please when
Will a while soon transpire
End of tunnel and darkness dire

Say again, you ought have it when
Wish begin to carry, cast, send
A friend through an unwitting end
To toll once more as one Big Ben

To share of fears and years and tears
Anywhere, any when, again
I say, it was never an end
Reflecting hall of hinged mirrors

To grasp a straw or shawl with all
Through looking glass new day befall
Will comfort come creeping, calling
Before beating heart goes stalling

A tear will rot, kettle called pot
Short, silly, stout army be rout
Bury in soot the days we moot
Bees be born blue 'til trees torn true

Not Created Nor Destroyed
July 24, 2013 at 10:02pm

Fitting this piece
The tightness comes apparent,
A microscopic intimacy
Making evident the understanding
That it is ALIVE
And conscious in its Being;
Our obsession with an atom’s
Movement, pressed into the neck of
Another,
As if the part were greater
Than the whole,
We show the boiling burn
Of mind,
Its dominance
Over the heart –
The always clever
And relentless self-hypnosis
Of becoming more important
Than another.
We already contain perfection.
Yet we still invite defection.
Our home is the distraction.
Where have we built
The ANYTHING
We admire?
Our neurons fire
On demand
The algorithmic dissolution
Of our nature
Disrupts our thinking -
Calling to our minds a question of
The omnipotence of our spirit.
We forget that every piece
Resides already in the heavens -
All the chaos of creation
Built into this imperfected host.

Saw a girl who looked so sad
Befret of any hope she had
Her head held down and lip aquiver
Love again had failed to deliver

Saw a girl who looked so lonely
She bought the lies of another phony
Her aching emptiness craved a friend
No token kindness in her turnstyle men

Saw a girl who hurt so deep
Waiting for a boy she'd never meet
She goes home to a vacant room
Hoping to sleep forever soon
