Sunset

The sky.

Pale liquid of freedom and beauty.

It arcs over us in an everlasting ribbon of joy.

The glorious luster of the sun slowly approaches the edge of the horizon, now bathed in golden light.

The edge of flaming sky burns until the burnt blackness of the peaceful night returns.

Re: Because I'm a Poet - A Poetry Thread
bare legged on the pressed board floor
just inside her bedroom door
tall wall sheet rock castle frock and mine
god given directive, be thee sure to shine
sighing slopes for unclear hopes
design a dream or two
mama's coming with the campbell soup
cream of tomato will do
for the paper doll girl
and her scissors
cutting out all her own visitors
as she chooses
but what amuses our displaced one
earth born, from whence did she come
and why in a world of wolves
does she sit
alone with cold soup, feeding it
to friends made of paper
easy to be clipped
pressed as protectors
there on her red bedroom floor

Rain.

Welcome.

A meditative soul offers a greeting.

Hear the rhythmic chaos of the water.

Drops of life come, sent by the heavens.

The soul can search deep inside itself and find calm solace.

Peace.

Tranquility.

It is an awesome gift from the tears of earth.

Clean air soothes all your passing cares.

Let your spirit’s love be awakened in this time of calm.

Breath.

There once was a man from Bel-Air
Who liked to do his wife on the stairs
The bannister broke, he doubled his stroke
And finished her off in the air!

Oh wait, that's a limeric - sorry, wrong thread!

Epic poems are for old poets. These days you have to grab your audience quickly...so you're definitely on-point! :) Nice.

Re: Because I'm a Poet - A Poetry Thread
I called the man from the Empire store
He promised to bring a mahogony floor
Money was tight as bark on a tree
But a new floor was all that mattered to me

I walked the old pine floor into dust
A right fool I was to give you my trust
You took a trip to the neighborhood store
I waik here alone forever more

Chipped, chumped, and left here to rot
My stomach is twisted in a clove hitch knot
I'm tied to this room in misery
You took all I had left nothing for me

If only they'd bring that new promised floor
I'd put on clean socks and slide to the door
Straight to California and the redwood trees
And avoid all the hidden installation fees

Midnight Beauty

Long grass rustles and hisses.
The moon, a mere sliver of glory, shines on our motionless forms; lying on the ground.
Stars frozen in the sky give us company.
As we lie in the grass, we are comforted by the gentle breeze on our faces.
It carries away the heat of our troubles.
No haunting concerns to chase us.
No limits to our minds.
As we drift away from reality, our souls reach for the stars
and touch them.

You

Your face is utterly perfect.
Your smile shames the finest galleries of art.
Your voice wafts lighter and clearer than any sparrows song.
Your eyes are gems of the finest caliber.
Your soul is always floating on the edge of mirth.
You love all things unconditionally.

You.

It's raining hammers and brass trombones
It's raining Edison's early microphones
It's raining headlines and blurry microfish
It's raining toxic cultures from a petri dish

The sun is shing right around the block
Truck drivers are smoking on the loading dock
Kids are running through the fire hydrant spray
Even shut-in lepers have come out to play

It's raining nails and hot dog vendors
It's raining bankers' illegal tender
It's raining Marx and Ronald Reagan
It's raining bodies from headless pagans

The snow is falling in the park
Its whispered fall glistens in the dark
Kids are sledding down bumpy hills
Even oxy junkies put away their pills

It's raining spikes and wilted flowers
It's raining plastic world trade towers
It's raining men but there's no alleluja
It's raining blindfolds but I still see through ya

This is my very first recording. Horribly done, but I wanted to just make it...so now it's done. They'll eventually get better when I'm not using a webcam mic, etc. Hope someone enjoys it (with all of its noobishness/moranness).

Re: Because I'm a Poet - A Poetry Thread
Running down that dark hallway
Evil breathing at my heels
Chipped paint and blood soaked floor
The screeching sound of grinding steel
A thoughtless mind all filled with fear
Every step could be my last
The world is slowing down
And going no where fast
I see the door
It seems so close
But yet so far away
I must escape
This is no place
For living things to stay
As I reach the door
It seals shut
Then slowly disappears
There is no way out
I except my fate
The ending to my fear

-From my mind to yours
When TSHTF... I'll be the one to clean up the mess.

Re: Because I'm a Poet - A Poetry Thread
Thanks, good october. Your campbell soup girl on the pressed board floor gave me the floor/tree thing. Lot of gems in that one of yours. Thanks for giving us all the rose petals.

ElecKool, the clip is the shit. What a great voice (with the thoughts and words to walk with it). Really impressive and it certainly didn't seem a rookie effort to me. If I bring forth water from the kitchen sink faucet, I feel like Moses discovering water in the desert for his thirsty tribe. Given this, your vid seems to be the stuff of Steve Jobs to me and it impressed in a huge way. Nice job and I hope you keep them coming.

SV3 and the hallway guy it's a pleasure to read you both. Thanks for putting your stuff out there. Some great visuals and sense of time and place. Right good reads. Thank you.

maybe she can ditch her rich
travel east and take a hitch
on your hundred acre pitch
sorry i am such a bitch
i guess it makes things somewhat clear
see how i am acting here
volcanoes burn without fear
i wonder if you'll call her dear
it's true we went the water's way
i would do it again back in the day
i'm not sure if i intended to stay
seeing as how you might like to play
and no i'm not sure that we're done
come some clouds, come some sun
life is work and life is fun
maybe we have just begun
i have no moping need at stake
hoping to not the same mistakes make
all i know is, i love chocolate cake
with peanut butter frosting...?...

Water seeks its own level
You liked Bach I chose Metal
Never thought of you as a bitch
I liked your pretty nails inside my itch
You know, of course, I'll call her dear
I always need a woman to quench my fear
There's no volcanoes in the East
Just strings of women to feed the beast
I never knew if you intended to stay
And now you say well maybe some day
You're not sure if we are done
Play me like a mouse in your claws sly one
Clouds, sun, work, and life
You see promise and I see strife
Peanut butter frosting on choclate cake
Why do you smile as my batter breaks.

Re: Because I'm a Poet - A Poetry Thread
it was a sight to see
marvelous in wonder
the way she sat first crouching
communing with the green
long conversations she has many
and not once has one been overheard
not one quip of even one word
but she would tell me from time to time
how the signs and blood-webbed lines
would give her cause to pause in the clover
where the whisperings pass over
and she does too
i see it in her eyes
butterfly
when she has gone
and she's been gone awhile now, sir
and as she begins her stir
i watch
i see
the crouch purposefully arise
and to my complete surprise
she sprang with legs of a gazelle
tan and swift and running
catch her if you can, i thought
but not a chance, dear,
not a chance in hell...

and heaven, it requires no net...

I was sitting in my yard
just looking at some trees
As the leaves were swaying
a fat squirril came to me
He put his paws together
and pumped them up and down
A little disconcerting
to view a rodent jerk-off clown
What could God be saying
through this furry exibition
I wondered if the time had come
to alter my position

You know, it's a bit mental that we both had pastural themes this morning, October. All God's creatures... and all that. We're on the page, sister.

Telling that you lighted with a butterfly and I had a wanking rodent.

"mother,it's like being raw", says the pixie to her goddess.
"is that why so many hide deep in the thicket of your bodice?"

"it's true" gives the queen her sound, "you've been lost and you've been found. no need to rush or further more bleed; remember your holy vibrational creed"

"oh mama,it hurts me so; that dense human soul... when can i stay in the dew where magic plays it's healing tunes and you lay your silken runes for me?"

"Until you understand the weight and the waste that burdens the human soul," said the queen "you'll spend all your days where no magic plays and age exacts its toll."

"But I've learned the secrets of the ocean upon contemplating the dew," said the pixie "and even schackled to affliction and ego's great addiction I still saw your golden hue"

"Then, my pixie heart, you're becoming human in the noblest sense of the word and if you keep evolving without your soul dissolving you'll soon understand the absurd"
