OP, what state are you in? I have VA healthcare, so my pic is already registered. (which will be nice, because I will be one of the first ones checking into a local FEMA camp).

i worked in IT in the health field on this. This is the norm now. It isnt suspicious. They do it for your protection and theirs. A lot of illegals will steal peoples IDs for free healthcare. This proves its you when you come to the office. BUT this does tie into having all your data digitally available to all within government. Which ties to "mental health" with gun control and other factors. You may decline. But i do feel safer seeing it is protecting my identity. I show photo ID with my health insurance, so i have no problem with them confirming my face.
 Quoting: TheTruthNeverLies

Not seen the picture taking here but have seen added security and even one behind the check in desk at Kaiser. When asked, was told that they have had problems when they verify ID that it isn't the person trying to use the ID card. Was told they have had a lot of illegals or even family members trying to use their insured family member's insurance cards. When confronted some have gotten violent.

Pay for your insurance like everyone else. Simple. Or if you are an illegal sponge off the government.

I noticed my dentist started taking my blood pressure about a year ago. What's up with that?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 18373227

If you have high pressure you can bleed a lot more than normal.

My dentist had me fill out a very extensive health questionnaire on my last visit. Much of it had no relevance to dental care. They really did not need all this information. My "paranoia" kicked in as I wondered who this info was really for as I'm a TI.

My guess is it's for your electronic file/medical record.
 Quoting: TOTRhombus

Yes this correct.

almost all Electronic Medical Records have an area options designated for PHotos of patients

I do not belive photos are mandatory.

Surgeons often will take photo for issues related to the current state of the patient before surgery - primarily for litigation purposes.

CA here. The general MD and the OBGYN both took copies of my DL and ins. Cards then demanded photo of me.

Was told same crap; "it's a safety issue!'

And get this: early on when it looked like I had some form of cancer happening, the general MD was far more interested in discussing my weight than the results of my tests!

I've seen this practice of taking pictures at 2 medical offices. About 5-7 years ago. They told me it was for medical records, hipaa and identification only. Which is really what it's for.

Obamacare, so they know who can have healthcare and who can't.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9422178

I'm wondering also if anyone else is seeing this at Dr's offices?
 Quoting: geminilion

Most of the physicians offices around the country are upgrading their systems -- and those systems have the capability to store images of their patients.

This capability has been around for many years in the newer enterprise EHR (read that large hospital) systems and are trickling down now to even the smaller systems.

I don't think it in itself is nefarious -- but the potential for abuse exists as long as we have an IRS and/or a communist administration.

I don't know. I've worked in health care IT as well.

The poster pointed out that the electronic medical record is now in the hands of the govt.

Personally, I don't want my picture being taken at the docs office. But at the same time, think about the doctors perspective....they have thousands of patients in a year and have to rely on memory for all those faces.

People aren't just a number at the clinic. Do you want your doctor to think of you as "that allergy patient"?

And after your pic is in their central database and they are ready to screw you over, they put Robbie Parker's face where your used to be. You will no longer have an identity and all official proof will say you are not you. Then they will incarcerate you for vagrancy and mental illness. Mine does not.

Mine also stopped accepting all insurance so she could be free of Obamacare mandates.

She told me that she would have to see 40 patients a day to break even under Obamacare.

She downsized, moved to a cheaper building and said "Fuck the Police!"

Sadly, I had to get a new doctor because I can't afford her.

My guess is many doctors will do this, consolidating all the best healthcare for the rich.

Which will leave 99% of the rest of us with shitty Obamacare.

Thanks Obama!

Some people have chronic health issues. I had surgery a little over a month ago so it was a post-op visit.

TY for the pin.

Have you ever tried any kind of alternative treatment? In my and my family´s experience, doctors are only useful in case of injurie/trauma.

Not even for serious illnesses or diseases. We had worried all our lives with paying medical insurance (sometimes we had, sometimes we couldn´t keep up with the payments...) until I absolutely realised inside myself - they are not necessary. In fact there´s a big chance they are worsening our condition with their "treatments".

That would not be acceptable to me. I was at my accountants office and they wanted to take my picture. Their reason was they would know what I looked like while on the phone. I said no thank you and that makes me extremely uncomfortable. There was no need for them to have my picture. It got real uncomfortable because no one had said no to them thus far.

This picture thing is invasive. People have passwords and person information to help identify them, pictures are not necessary.

Medical records online. The corrupt keeps track of how the poisons they use work on you. They use different toxins area by area. For example in some areas they combine toxins placed in water and foods with high altitude chemical dispersals.

Went to my surgeon's office this morning. He shares the office space with a lot of different Dr's.

I was checking in at the desk and the receptionist told me they had to take my pic. I asked her why and she told me for security reasons, so they know who's coming in and out.

I thought that was strange. They have cameras around the building to see who's coming and going.

Any thoughts? I've never heard of this before.

**The first step to salvation is to realize that we are all sinners:
Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 6:23
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Re: Why would my doctor's office start taking pictures of everyone?
From "New Order of the Barbarians" (a must read for all GLPers) a transcript of a taped interview describing the disclosure of a plan for total control of society:

[link to www.100777.com]

section: Planning the Control over Medicine

"Access to hospitals would be tightly controlled. Identification would be needed to get into the building. The security in and around hospitals would be established and gradually increased so that nobody without identification could get in or move around inside the building.

Theft of hospital equipment, things like typewriters and microscopes and so forth would be "allowed" and exaggerated; reports of it would be exaggerated so that this would be the excuse needed to establish the need for strict security, until people got used to it.

And anybody moving about the hospital would be required to wear an identification badge with photograph and.. telling why he was there .. employee or lab technician or visitor or whatever. This is to be brought in gradually, getting everybody used to the idea of identifying themselves - until it was just accepted.

This need for ID to move about would start in small ways: hospitals, some businesses, but gradually expand to include everybody in all places!

It was observed that hospitals can be used to confine people .. for the treatment of criminals. This did not mean, necessarily, medical treatment. At that .. at that time I did not know the word "Psycho-Prison" - is in the Soviet Union, but, without trying to recall all the details, basically, he was describing the use of hospitals both for treating the sick, and for confinement of criminals for reasons other than the medical well-being of the criminal. The definition of criminal was not given."

But now, if I am in the ICU, the hospital can keep information on my treatment secret from the people who know and care about me. The hospitalcan keep those people from even seeing me. my health care power of attorney can be ignored. But my employer and the Feds know my complete medical history. HIPPA was the solution to a problem that was minimal to give them the power to use the medical system as a means of isolation and reeducation. Classic Soviet tactic.
