Any GLP ladies going through MENOPAUSE? Id sure like some info!
Are there any women here on GLP in Peri-menopause? Going through the change?

Im having a horrific time of it, and would like to know YOUR symptoms and what, if anything, that helped you.

My sleep is the worse, I have horrible insomnia and when i DO sleep, it's jumbled and I wake up every hour or so.

Night sweats, as well.

Hot flashes have slowed considerably, but those were the strangest feeling I ever had. Almost like a hair dryer being turned on from the inside.

Very moody, sensitive emotions, and can get angry really fast.

Joint aches. Brain fog.

Lack of energy, this is a biggy..it takes everything I have just to get out of bed.

I dont want to take HRC, Ive been taking some herbal supplements, but they dont seem to be helping.

Thanks ahead of time for anyone who posts :)

Melatonin for the insomnia. GNC has some pretty good stuff. I would start off with one tablet 2 hours before bedtime, if that doesn't help then take a 2nd one. Be sure you can devote a full 8 hours to sleep before taking.

While you are GNC, pick up a bottle of Vit. C with biflavanoids. This will help with your hormones.

Also, Vit. D3. This will help with your mood swings & immune system.

Once you start getting some regular sleep, your energy level will return as well.

If you need a nap during the day, take it. But no longer than 30 min.

I haven't but my wife has.

Higher doses of the herbals is my first thought.

After awhile the hot flashes and sweats mellow out and it gets better.

I do know that a small bio identical dose of HRT in the 1-2mg/day range should not be a major issue. The issues we are finding with HRT use is in the synthetic hormones. The bio identical ones do not show near as much issues. Also you may want to consider Estrace vaginal cream every once and awhile as opposed to daily HRT. Talk to your doctor of course as each body is unique. I am not a doctor and I did not stay at the Holiday Inn last night.

Omg, yes.

I have been going thru this for 3 years now.

The night sweats have slowed down, but I am horribly depressed, and can't pull myself back up.

My stomach looks bloated, but nothing will "happen" for a few months now.

I cry a lot because I can't feel the way I used to. I try so hard, but I just want to curl up and be quiet..

I don't want to take meds, and I hear some people saying to smoke the herb.. but I wouldn't even know where to get it..lol!

I am desperate to feel better. This is the most horrible, cruelest thing a woman could be put thru.

I would rather be giving birth again than go thru this.

Hemp seed. (I buy the pound bag from Nutiva) Switched from Fish oil to Hemp seed when reading that the Omegas were more balanced.

Some reading from another site:

Yes. Melatonin. My sleep is starting to regulate again without it though. But took it for a solid year.

Yes. No wheat. Going gluten free has been one of the best things I ever did!

Expect more hell, such as;
neighbor's tinkling windchimes making you so batshit crazy that you buy a BB Gun and try to shoot it down while she's at work.

The checker at every checkstand has it in for you.
You hate most stores in your town and cannot go back to certain stores because you caused a scenethere before. Shopping becomes a major emo saga because Pic N Save played a song that made you so sad that you wanted to die.

The color you wanted is sold out. The shoes you love are on sale and they do not have your size.
You order a bean burrito at Taco Bell and end up waiting 33 minutes in a log jammed drive thru'. You are frothing mad and go ballistic at the drive thru window teenaged girl who was talking to her friends in the cars before you. She forgets your mild sauce and your burrito is barely warm. No napkin either. You eat it anyway and worry that she spit in it.

Your face breaks out in acne pimples and you start getting deep wrinkles and creases on your face.

Driving now includes using every cuss word you know and dishing verbal grief to drivers anywhere near you. You yell and make handsigns during your trip.

The world hates you because you cannot find a parking place close to the front entrance of the store.

No young men will help you at Home Depot. They all flock to the sweet blonde lady in the sundress.
You dress in sweats and flop tops. Your 1" gray roots and dyed auburn hair with the "young" cut makes you look like crazed squirrel.
You cry while loading your sacks of steer manure and start sweating. Flies land on you and come home with you in the car. You truly look and smell like shit.
Nobody cares.
I got LOTS more..

Oh, and I switched to coconut oil for cooking, and take a spoonful every couple days. Good for brain health.

I never had much of a sweet tooth, but any craving for sugars pretty much left with the diet changes. Though still enjoy my bitter dark chocolate.

Good luck. And, for Goddess sake, be careful. lol

A few of my friends are going through it too. Some just do not know it yet though. It gets worse when you become friendless because no one has any clue what is going on with them much less anyone else or anything.

It sucks basically. But due to my charming, passionate, fiery personality that came with the package at birth, I had been going through it for a few years and did not know it. The doctor did not even think to test in my early forties.

Docs were pushing mood stabilizer drugs though, which very well might have not been needed if we would have know it was perimenopause.

Warning for all going through it at a young age and may not know it. Do be careful the drug pushers for mood stabilizers. Try diet changes first. One of the worse things was going off an anti-epilectic I had been on while going through this process.

Talk about mind fuck. Going off that drug I should not had been on was just that. I could literally feel my brain rewiring while detoxicing my brain and body from it. Hellish experience to lay and bed feeling the rewiring.

Get your thyroid checked...it's a simple blood test...can even order online. Thyroid for some women can go wonky during menopause and cause huge mood swings, tiredness and insomnia. It happened to me and I finally returned to the land of the living. The hot flashes, unfortunately continued for years, but the other problems went away when the thyroid issue was addressed.

We could go ten years like this..

I know..it's horrible..maybe we should try all the things people have suggested so far. :)

In addition to what the others have recommended (love coconut oil and ACV)try some black cohosh tinture which worked better than pills for me. Drink organic nettles and dandelion teas - using dry herbs with a bombilla are stronger vs bags. Lithium Orotate has helped my sleep tremendously as well as not being so sensitive/emotional. Not the Lithium drug but the mineral supplement. It's good for lots of issues, not just menopause. They're helping Vets with PTSD with amazing positive results. Scroll down to all the problems it's helping people with here: [link to www.opgetfree.com]

Your local natural grocery, or online stores like Vitacost or iherb.com should have all of these and they're cheap. Nettles and dandelions grown in our yards, just dry them out. Use the internet to search for natural/holistic menopause remedies.

Been going through it since December including the isomnia, hot flashes, chills, crying for no reason, etc. Using these items and exercising, my life is almost back to normal except my "cycles."

Hope this helps and good luck :)

Just know, Mia..there are so many of us women going thru it right now with you!

I know it really doesnt help as much as talking face to face, but its a godsend to be able to talk to others, like here on GLP, and know you arent insane.

Ok, a bit insane, but not wacky..lol

Re: Any GLP ladies going through MENOPAUSE? Id sure like some info!
I've been taking Black Cohosh for the moodiness, and it works REALLY well. I can feel myself getting irritated and I'll immediately take one and feel calmer within an hour or so. It also helps with the night sweats! I've gotten the Natures Way brand, but also found it at Swanson's Vitamins online. It's a little cheaper there so I thought I'd try their brand. They also carry triple complex boron which I've just started taking for arthritic pain.

I also just started taking flax seed / primrose oil combo from GNC. It supposed to help with peri menopausal stuff too. I WAS taking a product called AM/PM, but I found that the black cohosh really worked for me on its own. Be careful taking too much melatonin - I've heard that too much can make you feel a little blue. Times like this are hard enough, we don't need anything else pulling us down - lol.

Good luck!
