Perhaps this version of Genesis will answer some of those questions that make the Bible unreliable.

Look at the whole earth and give it the name Eden, let it rotate and then mark out the area defined in Genesis 2 as being the are boxing in the Garden area of Eden. The Euphrates River marks the northern border rather than the East one. Within the Garden area itself was a complete and utter desert until the time Adam was born and talking with God. At that time (insert date here, 400,000BC) God brought the living flesh before Adam to be named. The plants other than the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil blew in as seeds from the rest of Eden. Forests as mentioned on day 3 was 400,000,000BC, from that date until the end of day 6 (40,000BC) the earth got covered in vegetation. Adam was created at the beginning of day 6 and the garden are experienced what the rest of Eden experienced but in a compressed time-line. The Dead Sea was the equivalent of the oceans but as fresh water.

The justification for messing with the dates is in the Bible, 1 day = 1,000 years. Adam and Eve were exiled at the end of day7/beginning of day 8 which can be dated at being 4,000BC (rounded off). Going back 1 day you add a zero to the 1,000 column and you get 40,000BC, end of day 6 so there is the period the 7th day took up, Adam and Eve as Husband and Wife and Angelic Beings are around and able t communicate with them. Go back 1 more day by doing the same thing again, put a '0' in the 1,000 marker and you get 400,000BC, end of day 5 The Oceans were full and so was the Dead Sea so it looked like it will for the 1,000 years after her waters have been healed (Eze:47) Keep doing that and you end at the end of day 1 and the earth has rotation and light on its surface. That was 4B years ago and it was only at 400M years ago that the earth had water in liquid and vapor form.

Once you cover time and the whales from back them it takes on a form that is closer to reality than out own version.

During that 7th day Angels could have been on earth but not allowed in the Garden area and that is how all the oldest monuments were created, by Angels for Angels and it is only at the sin of the one allowed into the Garden that the relationship changed as women were put into Eden outside the Garden area. That period of time is limited to 4,000BC to the flood (approx 2500BC) so the 'works of men' would have been better than the Tower of Babel as giants and fallen angels were missing from that project. Two times in the past we became less capable that we were at any point after the language change.

This little bit isn't meant to change your mind, it is to show that there are versions that fit science. Genesis and the flood are two examples that have alternative meanings. It leaves God as being supernatural (like saying 100 years in advance what will take place) and having a flood that fits the description without tipping science on its side. By making the rains snow on the high hills and mountain tops yu eliminate the need for several trillion cubic miles of water to cover Everest, and then get rid of it all again.
That means God could have got the water needed from the ice-caps or directly from the ocean. To cover the land area of the world with 22ft of water would mean the Ocean levels would drop by 1/4 of that or about 5ft, and a year later the level would be back to normal. Fits with science and you could probably build a weather model that would play the simulation out when limiting the return to the time frame given, the snow/ice took 150 days before the rocks were visible.

The part I like best about the Bible and the land area thing s in Jer:25 all the Nations of the world are included in the same prophecy and in Revelation the last prophecy about that event says 1/4 of the world will be affected, like in the flood the land area of the world is about 25% so no area will escape that prophecy. Info like that wasn't supposed to have been known that far back.
