Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1480012 the smoking gun is how rapidly these nuclides reached the west coast of north america and hawaii. also, the species of decay products that were detected were inconsistent with what would have been expected from the decay chain of a u or pu core meltdown and so the mixed oxide fuel story was invented to explain the proportions that these decay products were being detected in. the story has been largely ignored or marginalized until now. there is a massive thermal signature being detected in the pacific in the vicinity of where the "fukushima tsunami earthquake" was said to occur. it is significant in location, thermal increase and the total affected surface area. to heat that volume of water even a few degrees would take an enormous amount of energy. more than any known manmade technology could supply. [link to www.ncdc.noaa.gov] [link to www.ncdc.noaa.gov] there is a massive pocket of radioactive oil and natural gas trapped underneath the sea floor, and because of human meddling, it has been continually expanding for two years and its pressure has been rapidly and steadily mounting. unlike the gulf, where gas pressure was able to escape through thousands of tiny fissures in the ocean floor, the geological strata in this area of the pacific does not allow for this relief, and frozen methane hydrate has been heating up and moving into gas phase, pushing up the sea floor and creating a towering underwater mountain. it will eventually erupt, spewing out its highly radioactive contents into the ocean and atmosphere. this eruption will also displace a gigantic amount of seawater and propagate a powerful mechanical wave through both the ocean and the tectonic plate, expanding radially from the epicenter until its energy is dispersed. the tsunami will dissipate as it becomes landfall and/or moves inland. |

They are stable in the extreme cold and crushing weight of deepwater, but are extremely dangerous when they build up inside the drill column of a well. If destabilized by heat or a decrease in pressure, methane hydrates can quickly expand to 164 times their volume. Survivors of the BP rig explosion told interviewers that right before the April 20 blast, workers had decreased the pressure in the drill column and applied heat to set the cement seal around the wellhead. Then a quickly expanding bubble of methane gas shot up the drill column before exploding on the platform on the ocean's surface. Even a solid steel pipe has little chance against a 164-fold expansion of volume — something that would render a man six feet six inches tall suddenly the height of the Eiffel Tower. Scientists are well aware of the awesome power of these strange hydrocarbons. A sudden large scale release of methane hydrates is believed to have caused a mass extinction 55 million years ago. Among planners concerned with mega-disasters, their sudden escape is considered to be a threat comparable to an asteroid strike or nuclear war. The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, a Livermore, Ca.-based weapons design center, reports that when released on a large scale, methane hydrates can even cause tsunamis. [link to www.ldeo.columbia.edu] The researchers drilled into sand and found pockets of hydrate up to a hundred feet thick at two sites off Texas and Louisiana, known as Walker Ridge and Green Canyon. Hydrate saturations in the sand ranged from 50 to 90 percent. Lamont’s borehole group is currently analyzing measurements taken from the drill holes to estimate how much methane the two sites may hold. One early estimate was about 1 trillion cubic feet (tcf). |

And not only could the gas be suffocating sea life, but a new analysis warns that a giant, 1,000-year-old methane bubble could soon explode, taking out miles and miles of the ocean floor and causing a violent oil spill tsunami. He also warns of a "second tsunami via vaporization." This could result after the initial explosion displaced all the oil, gas and water around it, producing a gigantic, extremely hot (300-degree Fahrenheit) cavity, which would vaporize all the incoming water, turning it into steam and causing another rupture in the gulf floor.
