Anonymous Coward User ID: 1281779 United States 05/17/2013 08:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Used to be a glazier in my 20's...(1990's) Went to Automotive school to be a mechanic. I'm now in my 40's. I should have stayed as a glazier. I had it made, worked alone in the shop as a shop glazier for a small company, the other two guys were union and I wasn't... which meant, I wasn't allowed to do field work and my pay was considerably lower, I was making $6 bucks to their $20. got tired of waiting on empty promises and went back to school after two years. Loved the work though... |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 19238807 United States 05/17/2013 08:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have a Brick building and I want to install a curtain wall entrance way. The opening would be approximately 25'w X 10'h what would be the appropriate load capacity for the needed glass..? Quoting: Donthaveone 39894750 I'm not sure. I want to make an aquarium out of a reptile tank. Whats the best glue for glass to glass connection? Or should i use regular Silicone cement from the hardware store? Or both? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27095583 I've never built a fish tank, but we use mildew-resistant silicone for sealing our shower enclosures. |

Don't use mildew-resistant silicone on fish tanks, only plain 100% silicone. Thanks OP, I'll look into insulated glass. |

Quoting: Donthaveone 39894750 well a 1 sq ft unit (1") weighs about 6.9 pounds. so if you add 1" in every direction to your daylight sizes then do the math on how many total sqft you have, thats your glass weight. |

It's a profession which has it's drawbacks, but one in which someone can make a good living. Ask me a question, and I'll provide an answer. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19238807 What are the drawbacks? What's the best way to get started in the trade? |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 31224526 Holding the weight should t be a problem. I've heard u need to use a nontoxic caulking due to the fact that it will bleed into the inhabitants water... |
