U.S is one of the few industrial nations that still has the death penalty.Why I believe Christians in the U.S and other nations that have the death penalty should demand to abolish it.

Jesus said:"You have heard that it was said,'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth'But I tell you,do not resist an evil person.If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also." Matthew 5:38-39

Jesus said:"You have heard that it was said,'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy." But I tell you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you" Matthew 5:43-44

Jesus is tellings us to avoid "Eye for eye,and tooth for tooth" revenge. And LOVE our enemy.So the death penalty goes against Jesus teachings.I know this is not an easy thing to do. What's your opinion?
