Four hours is really short. You could try to supplement with a grow light.
Peppers like it hot, and will do better if it hits 90 degrees.
I suggest you try it, the worst that happens is you are out $2.00 of seeds.
Some shade loving veggies: Salad Greens, such as leaf lettuce, arugula, endive, and cress. Broccoli Cauliflower Peas Beets Brussels Sprouts Radishes Swiss Chard Leafy Greens, such as collards, mustard greens, spinach, and kale Beans
Quoting: Lemon What kinds of beans? Maybe some sort of bush beans? What are those beans you can grow in small spaces, are they mung beans? I figure the smaller the actual vege, the best chance of producing with less sunlight. Although I've never had a garden at home I know a little from working in someone else's.
