Any update Op? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 40241183 OP here. Currently on the bus. what was to be a two day trip is going to be a four day trip almost. right now im between memphis and nashville TN. if anyone wants to western union 10 bucks to nashville so i can have a nice meal on a stopover tonight feel free to let me know! just kidding. Why so long, OP? According to the Greyhound routes, the only one you'd qualify for had 1 day 15 hrs. for the longest length of time to get there. You must be there by now since you'd only be 12 hrs. away including transfer time and it's been 26 now. You really must have had a hard time, getting one with 5 transfers. Only one of them had 4 transfers. Only one had 3 transfers. The others were 2. Noticed they only allow two bags and you said you had 3. Hope that worked out ok for you and you've had a good meal and are settling in. Also hope you have a jacket or shirts you can layer, because it's going to be a lot cooler for a few days. Good luck. Hope you'll let these good people who've been so helpful and concerned, know how you're doing. |

My daughter mowed the bank lawn for $35.00 - push mowed it - took her an hour. She did such a good job they wanted her to come back next week! YOu get a few of those I bet you can start feeling a bit more secure - I know you don't have lawn mower but many houses have their own mowers and may not mind you using them - after a fe of these you can buy your own mower! Im' not kidding you - there's money to be had in mowing lawns! It's just a suggestion - but I think most people do what they need to do to survive - I know I would! ~ Haarpy Don't get mad - Get a Pepsi! |

When you've given enough times to find out later it was....not as claimed, you get a little jaded, unfortunately. Knowing someone is hungry is my weak spot. I hate it and want to help. But don't want to be a sucker again. There were a few things that bothered me, and maybe not rightfully so. Among them, I noticed this seemed to be the OP's first and only post here. When someone asked if he had someone he could stay with for a while, he said no, but later mentioned the friend in NY. His attitude also bothered me. Instead of being thrilled by his ticket, there were comments about the number of transfers, the length of time, etc. That sounds to me more a feeling of entitlement than appreciation. After he found that someone promised him a ticket, he asked for someone to call about his ticket on one post, and on another, it sound like he was right across the street from the bus station. One kind person offered to bring him food. If that person brought food, nothing was ever mentioned about it. Shortly afterward, he had a ticket. Did the person bring the food and he was gone? Evidently he didn't have any, since he "jokingly" asked for Western Union to be able to eat at one of his stops. Things like that. There may be a reasonable explanation for all of it, which is why I hesitated to mention it. It's probably just me. It's wonderful to help people in need, but irks the heck out of me and makes it harder for those who genuinely need, when some are less than honest. That's probably the basis for my sarcasm. |

I was originally supposed to get to NY at 200 pm Today, now it look s like I won't get to NY before Friday. Just saw this post. The one before this one, at 4:06 pm yesterday, said you were between Memphis and Nashville. According to Greyhound schedule, it's approx. 12 hrs. from your location to NY, including transfers. You should now be in NY. Maybe your friend could pick you up. Last Edited by Nine's - IN MEMORIAM on 05/22/2013 08:50 PM |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5574349 I won't bore you all with long sob stories. About a year ago lost my job of twelve years, couldn't find new work, made some bad financial choices, and today I sit in the public library on my old laptop typing away as all my posessions lay in three small suitcases very close to where I am sitting. I think this might possibly be the worst place to be homless, given the horrible heat. So I have seventy-five cents to my name, am not sure where I'll be putting my head down to sleep tonight, and was wondering if anyone else out there has been in a similar prediciment. I'll update my story here as I can. Maybe a few people will find it interesting. Sorry about your luck Loser,, Get a job. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 40216574 Canada 05/22/2013 09:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | When I was homeless here in toronto canada I was living in a shelter with a guy from dallas texas, on christmas morning there were people handing out care packages with various things and the guy said, "rich people are nice here" I asked him what meant, he said he was from texas and no one there would ever do something like this in texas, how its hard to even find a soup kitchen let alone anyone giving away presents. I got mixed feeling about this because in the end you want people to take responsibility for their own lives, on the other hand theres good quality people for whatever reasons are in the situation they're in and need some kind of help to get them started back on the right track. My advice to OP is to get on social assistance as soon as possible to secure a place and some credibility while lookiing for work. Stay away from the shelters they are traps, drugs, criminals, pedophiles the worst of the worst, losers of the losers and you can easily get dragged down into places you dont belong without even knowing it. Add to that the depression and drugs and it can feel like theres no hope. Whatever money you get, buy a phone, work labour jobs to stay busy and out of shelter people bullshit which will help your mental state, save up for first and last month rent, you dont have expenses so that should beh easy, get on social assistance to secure a place. Now you got some place to wash and change and make calls from to find a better job, if you need get some training which maybe provided to you through social assistance. And start looking for what you want to do with the rest of your life. Its not easy but its doable. I did this and i got a place now albeit on welfare with $230 a month to live on after rent I can just barely get food for the month but enough to live basically where I can spend my free time working on my andriod apps and starting my own software company. That being said im really temped to get a job because $230 is just not enough to live on but on the other hand the free time i have is much more valuable than working all day for minimum wage as a robot gaining nothing but extra spending money for a slightly better lifestyle. I figure I can use this time to make my own creations and get off welfare when I get real stable income. |

It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool.
