Check out beam of light at Neumayer station, this time straight up to the sky...

The brightest highlight seems to be coming from the bottom of the station... behind the knoll. As in shining up.

Why would it be pointing upwards?

And why at the time that most people are asleep, you can tell 'cause most of the lites are out in the station.

May I sugest a flood light for maintenance? ie. refueling genny, or taking out the trash. It is 08:40 AM. The big flash was much more impressive.

Good questions...

I was just pointing out the white-out (specular) effect on the station itself... It looks like it's coming from right below the station.

The beam pointing up may have more to do with the lens than the actual direction the light is pointing.

I watched the repeats for a few minutes, and it's a spotlight from a helicopter flying just above the cameras' line-of-sight.
