The incoming region that will be here next week really does seem extremely active. Been following the flares since they sprung up in higher frequency last week, initial impression was of a sun that is doing what it usually does, just with increased sunspot frequency (at least more activity from those sunspots).

Just looking at the sun can tell you it is brighter than 5-10 years ago. It's producing more energy, solar max coming up??

I know there are a lot of other pics, but this - this is just plain - well, a bit unnerving. The ENTIRE right hand side of the sun (in this pic) is ablaze, and I have never seen anything like it.

And I do consider myself a bit of a suntard, having been monitoring the sun via all the internet sites for as long as they have been around - since probably 1997 or so.

This is significant. Will it cause a global event of any kind? Maybe so, maybe not. But to those who say "This is normal, happens all the time" I call BS!
