Need a little computer HELP! please

It sounds like your port 80 is getting worn out. Sometimes after a few months of use a network card will need to be replaced because the ports wear out.

If things work fine on port 443 or port 8080, but not on port 80, then I'd recommend getting out the network card, and cleaning it. You can actually put it in the dishwasher, but don't use soap. Let it dry completely, then see if that helps.

Don't buy any of the port reconditioning fluid that the tech people recommend, becuase that never works for me. Its best to just replace the card.

Sometimes I found that the cable can be worn out too. It actually looses enough electrons to not function any more. Sometimes it can be recharged by plugging both ends into different wall sockets, but you have to take them apart and it can be a mess to put it back together. So probably its better to buy a new cable too. But don't buy the recharge kit that they try to sell you.

It might be a duplex mismatch, since you network card does seem to work. Right-click your network card > properties > configure > advanced tab and look for "speed and duplex"...if it's set for "auto negotiation" (if not, try that one) try setting it to half or full...just try different settings.

You can actually wash the entire motherboard in the washer. Remember no soap, and no heated drying. BTW, This also works great for dirty keyboards.

port can get fried even thru phone lines if there is enough surge. but you test it thru the hardware section of control panel. then you just buy new card/insert for the slot.

The port where you plug the line in is different than ports used to send tcp/udp transmissions. So for them to say port 80 may be fried but ports 8080 and 443 aren't, isn't true.

dump Internet Explorer - completely delete from your machine, save it to a CD and then break it into tiny pieces and finally light the tiny pieces on fire!

Internet Explorer has every hole imaginable to let malicious intruders hijack your machine, steal your bandwidth and just plain play a foul with your computing experience.

Get rid of it!

That will be step one to solving your problem. Guaranteed.

i had to do some fussing with the drivers though but its working now

Hey i know this is a little off topic but i know there are a couple of you out there with the answer that are nice enough to reply.


I have a recently bought computer, quad core3ghz, 3.5gigz ram, 1gig graphics memory.

Problem is about half a year ago the internet kind of stopped working on it, like it works, but it doesn't, internet explore has a god awful time trying to load the most simple site like this one, but Firefox loads if fine, but then if i try to load a site with flash or a bit more customized layout, internet explore has no god damn chance in hell of loading in, and Firefox will load half way, until i decide to go to another webpage, then it will instantly fully load then 'try' to load the new webpage i directed it too again. I can't connect to Microsoft live updates

so i reformatted, didn't work
then i reformatted again onto a different OS (Windows 8, was previously on Windows 7) didn't work, so i went back to Windows 7 in some fucken dumb hope, DIDN'T WORK, then i went to Windows XP, still doesn't work.

Right now i'm stuck on windows xp, all the drivers are PROPERLY installed, but it still shits on my face...
half loads every page (except this one WOOT) and then shits on me when i go to another.

btw i have 75gigs/s download so its not my internet speed ;)
