I feel for you OP. As others have said, it is happening in lots of places and will soon be implemented everywhere.

Just wait till the privatize everything and then the corporations decide your rural community is too expensive to send electricity to...maintain pipe and sewrlines...even ship food to. You will be given a dime and a song and quietly escorted to your "new" home...a tiny box in a fenced in community where they monitor everyone who enters and exits...

Yup, total depopulation and centralization. It's a lot easier to control the sheep when they all live close together.

Really sad too, as I lived in Japan for a short time. Nice place.

We all (the People under 75) live in
the big Cities, there is no work in
the Mountains anymore, also no
Universities and no Hospitals!

The Japanese Countryside is very Lifeless already
and the Bears, Tanokies and Deers return,
"Poka Poka"!

There are only 12 households left. This is a rural mountain village. Most of the peole here are very old. In fact, I'm the youngest left here. Its kind of sad but inevitable. They are consolidating these small communities to bigger places. You can stay if you want but there will be no more electricity, water, road care, etc. People get a little money to move, so I accepted.

Slowly the plants will be reclaim the site. It will be covered in green slowly, an abandoned and forgotten town. Most of the buildings are made poorly and will collapse in a few years. It is a sad and beautiful thing to think about.

Bummer. Take lots of pictures of it as it is now, to remember it by. Don't forget to take pictures of the people also.
