Stay on your wifes side! I am getting divrced over this very same issue (plus infidelity on her part) and now I am pissed as hell at both of them and may never talk with either.

Move your mom into a nursing home. Tell her its a nice place and drive away.

Sounds like your Mom is a controller. When you marry, you leave your Mother and Father and cleave to your wife. Your wife is the woman of your house and you need to treat her as such. Honor and respect your Mother, but YOU must set and support boundaries. Treat your wife like a thoroughbred and you will not have a nag.

You and your wife are on the journey together. You will make mistakes and learn together. Cleave to one another.

If you love your wife, move far away from Mom. More than one day's travel time. Otherwise, might as well kiss her goodbye now. Limit Mom contact time, find reasons to spend holidays away from the family.

Or you could just tell Mom to back off. Sounds like she would just be offended and behave worse if you tried the direct approach.

I have the same problem with my mother in law. She tells me how to keep my house, raise my children, cook... Everything! She has an opinion on everything, even our sex life.... She comes to my home and moves my furniture to where she likes it, and has tried to sell things that she does not like....
My husband and I had many fights about her. He finally got to the point where he told her to stop her bad behavior.... That's the only point when she finally stopped.
