British Police Arrest Citizens for Criticizing Islam on Social Media

Four men in England have been either arrested or warned after making anti-Muslim comments on Facebook and Twitter in response to the killing of a British soldier.

Benjamin Flatters, 22, was arrested by Lincolnshire Police after authorities were alerted he had made racist or anti-religious statements on Facebook, the Daily Mail reports.

Couple of things:

Our laws are of course based on English Common Law. The constitution and Declaration of Independence pays homage to the Magna Carta. We're a former British colony. I don't comprehend how English police can arrest someone for saying something 'racist' online. I understand they'll say it 'incited' violence, but that's fucking ridiculous. Chanting at football games incites violence. It's a serious restriction of freedom of speech designed to placate people who aren't used to real freedom of speech and democratic societies. It's also an example of a very heavy handed state. The law is used to simply muzzle people from really speaking their minds freely, in an effective, modern manner, that can reach potentially millions of people as opposed to dozens on a street corner somewhere.

Our cops are all armed. A cop [armed] should have arrived on the scene very quickly. say within 5 minutes, or a guard/military cop from the base a few blocks away, also armed. They may have [may have, not saying his wounds weren't immediately fatal] saved the guys life. And instead of pussyfooting around, allowing the two morons to mug for the camera and chitchat with passerbyes. I saw big, grown men standing by, doing nothing but watch; honestly, a group of men could have taken down these two, they were armed with knives and an old, rusty revolver, but a few men could have grabbed anything available as a shield and weapon and taken these two fools down. Just my opinion. And then there was a women who FOOLISHLY stopped to chat with the guys and who now is being played up as some kind of hero. Reality is she did a very foolish thing and is damn lucky she's alive, but I suppose authorities are putting a spin on her situation. Anyhow, you or anyone else in the UK should have to wait for armed police to show up because regular police are unarmed. I know unarmed police is like a sacred cow in Britain, but seriously, tell an American, Canadian, French, German, etc., etc., cop they would have to do their job unarmed, and they'd look at you like you were crazy. And I wouldn't blame them.

The EU can work in a natural way when it's members are of a common cultural heritage and ancestry... these are basic foundations for communication, commerce and natural instinctive cooperation, by extension commonality of cultural (if not political) values, industrial development etc creates what we call "the west" (in which I would include Japan and South Korea and even China to a certain extent but that's a thread in itself.

But Islam is utterly alien to these commonalities and utterly contravenes many of them, indeed it deeply believes they must be eradicated.

Western civilization and especially Europe, is a combination of Greek and Roman societal evolution and cultural philosophy... There is a famous saying derived from this system of civilization, in latin it's "Si fueris Romae, Romano vivito more; si fueris alibi, vivito sicut ibi."

"When in Rome, live as the Romans live, when elsewhere, live as they do there."

I think really, that's all we are asking of Islam are we not?

Nothing more than the exact same thing it asks of us when we go to Islamic nations and cultures.

Islam is far too immersive as a culture and lifestyle to integrate into what it perceives as "wrong" cultures... any attempts to do so will result in ghettoization simply because it is a lifestyle, a total immersion for the adherent.

That's not multi-culturalism, that's one culture attempting so supplant all others from the inside!
