I eat at a lot of restaurants and I always see vegetable side dishes, and even a few main courses that are some sort of vegetable dish.

Quit grabbing for straws..

Do you know what the fastest growing restaurant type in the world is right now? Guess. Come on, guess!

Yep, Barbecue! Sugared, salted, flame cooked meat! The only vegetables are sweet baked beans and sweet cole slaw....

Are you starting to see what is happening here?

Re: has anyone else noticed that restaurant menus are all meat and processed foods now. Few vegetables any more.
a plate consists of:

a meat

a starch

a vegetable.

+ + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + +

The "vegetable" is the salad.

+ + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + +

What i donot like is when they us coleslaw for the salad.

+ + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + +

Some places have soup and that is another meat, starch vegetable.

Some places have at least one side dish of a vegtable.

Some places have apple sauce.

Then there are all the other things.

If youarenot getting this, you need to think about your health and find a better place to eat.

"They" are reengineering the way we view food. A few quotes from Joel Salatin.

“The first supermarket supposedly appeared on the American landscape in 1946. That is not very long ago. Until then, where was all the food? Dear folks, the food was in homes, gardens, local fields, and forests. It was near kitchens, near tables, near bedsides. It was in the pantry, the cellar, the backyard.”

“The average person is still under the aberrant delusion that food should be somebody else's responsibility until I'm ready to eat it.”

“A farmer friend of mine told me recently about a busload of middle school children who came to his farm for a tour. The first two boys off the bus asked, "Where is the salsa tree?" They thought they could go pick salsa, like apples and peaches. Oh my. What do they put on SAT tests to measure this? Does anybody care? How little can a person know about food and still make educated decisions about it? Is this knowledge going to change before they enter the voting booth? Now that's a scary thought.”

We are now a malleable society. Look at guides from the mid-1800s. Food was whatever you could kill - with the exception of scavenging carnivores, unless absolutely necessary. Possum, squirrel, wild rabbit, birds, boar, deer, elk. If you could shoot it, you could eat it.

Now, food is what you buy. Food is something someone else produces, like a pan or a car or a yo-yo. What used to be a given - we feed ourselves - is now foreign. Kids can't identify common produce. Hippies eat dandelions. Fuck, for the most part, you can't even eat the dandelions because they've been sprayed with so much RoundUp.

The agenda drives us to be dependent upon the system. The foods we biologically crave are forefront. The human body has a preference for sweet and fat and salt. A well-prepared burger, topped with ketchup and pickles, provides all three. All our major triggers are fulfilled.

When this collapses - when the masses are hungry and there is no food to be transported - we will be ripe for the picking. We will take anything. We will have lost the self-sufficiency necessary to survive without Aldi. The last 50 years of bio-tech has created a captive nation.

That's, at least, my version of the agenda.

Except maybe potatoes.

There was a time you could get "meat and three vegs" almost anywhere. Not any more.

It's all fried, breaded, processed meats with sweet drinks.

How can meat be cheaper than vegetable menus?

What is going on?

Don't know where you eat, but all of the mid-priced chains have vegetables. Chili's, Applebees, et al.

It is not just in America, OP. Has happened here, too.
Go to the local pub for a meal and everything is meat and either chips and veg or salad and chips. The idea that salad should consist only of lettuce, tomato, carrot and oily dressing is offensive, and the veg is usually overcooked or undercooked frozen veg. Potatoes are always on offer.

I suggest you research the history of the agricultural industry in your country - subsidies in particular. Also, Monasanto does have a lot to answer for. I found out recently that they developed a gmo corn with a built in spermicide that causes infertility in whatever eats it. You can buy those seeds yourself. Frightening.

People have lost their imagination when it comes to food. I blame flouride.

An earlier poster commented about how the general population is too stressed out and that is what is driving them to make such poor choices. I agree.

I knew a bloke who owned a cafe in a rural town who opened his business with aspirations of educating the masses and providing top quality, healthy food. Business almost failed until he installed a chip fryer. His comment - give the people what they ask for - telling them what they should have just turns them away.

Another poster commented that one reason that veg is not such a popular restaraunt addition is due to the perishable nature of fresh food. If the produce is in season, it will last longer. Of course it will perish quickly if it is out of season becasue it has to be transported from where it was grown. I wish people would understand that. You cannot get good quality apples in summer because they have been in cold storage since being harvested the previous autumn! There is a reason why mother nature provides us with certain fruits and vegetables at certain times of the year - think about it!

This is a great point.

This is not just an American agenda. As with so much right now. This is a worldwide agenda.

I go to a local restaurant. and nothing is prepared fresh.

There is meat, salad which is usually head lettuce, hard carrots, and loads of sweet and fatty dressings.

The only vegetables are usually friend potatoes. But people mostly choose meat and sweet drinks.

That's it.

Thank you. Look at the chains going in all over the world!!!!

How can you not see what is being planned for us all?

OP,

We quit going to restaurants 2 years ago. Both My Wife and I are excellent chefs and we prepare all of our meals.

After I built my restaurant chain and sold it, I just could not find a restaurant that was up to our high standards of cleanliness, food prep...etc...

So we just decided, we cook better than any restaurant, we'll just cook for ourselves.

We also garden and grow our own veggies, raise rabbits for meat and farm tilopia

Our rabbits and fish eat food we grow, and live long happy lives until..........it's there time

Yes, it's annoying. When I was full on vegan, I couldn't eat much of anything at restaurants.

I found a simple solution to the problem:

I no longer eat at restaurants.

You should try the same!

They look up to amateurs on shows like Master Chef instead of the pros on Iron Chef, they don't aspire to be great, they aspire to be average or under average.

People really have no yardstick of quality anymore
Everything is cheap, disposable, toxic crap

That goes for everything, go to any store, you will find crappy and toxic goods.

Everyone keeps saying here that the answer is to grow your own. That is not possible for me. I travel a lot and don't have the place to grow my own.

My reason for this thread is NOT about me. Would you guys please stop telling me how to change my life!

What I am trying to do is to educate people as to what is taking place all around the world. This is not about me changing the way I find food.

It's really about global slavery and how this prison is tightening more every day.

The way this is done is through our food!

I guarantee you go to the right restaurants you can get steamed vegetables, fruit salad, or plenty of dishys with cabage or carrots. Just gotta be picky. After culinary school my idea of a good restaurant just went haywire!
Also, if you cant find any place you like... Learn to cook for your self. Grow your own vegeTables like I do, then bam! All the healthy crap you need. Fucking Amateur.

Re: has anyone else noticed that restaurant menus are all meat and processed foods now. Few vegetables any more.
Vegetables are perishable. They are also more labor intensive than processed frozen meat. A mánager who cuts costa by cutting kitchen staff ende up having to cut vegetables from the menú because of spoilage.

Also, people are stressed and subconsciously trying to feedbtheir adrenals with fatty spicy salty meat and fruity sweet drinks. What they need is salt, protein, and vitamin c. But what they crave is what they know.

Get into the habit of spending one hour twice a week buying washing, chopping and storing fresh vegetables. Use the freezer so you can stock up at good prices and have variety. It's not hard.

I was always a whole foods home cook. One year of "fine dining" and eating most meals out aged me and fattened me beyond recognition. I regret it. This was before the recession. So don't mourn. Sharpen your knives. You can always meet friends for beer and pub food or coffee and dessert.

Where the heck do you eat? Crapplebees? Chili's? Many chainhf restauRants do have crap in the menu. But when you start getting in to mom n pop places you can tell the difference.

Veggies take up a lot of cooler space and require quite a bit of prep time.
