Goat, I don't know if you root for U of Maryland or not, but if so, careful if you ever travel to U of Michigan or Ohio State for a Big Ten football game. Fans of both of those schools are known for their thuggery and lack of class. Verbal attacks are almost guaranteed every time and physical attacks will occur if your team wins and/or if you argue back.

I think what causes it is 1)arrogance 2)alcohol 3)mob mentality (thinking the other fans have your back against the "intruders") 4.poor sportsmanship - your team loses, you gotta take it out on something or someone. the same people who throw the remote at the TV when their team loses are the danger at the ballpark. Mentality goes along with them. Mix in alcohol and it's a recipe for disaster.

I know Matt personally..graduated a year ahead of me at same school. Its a pretty damn sad story. He was at least lucky enough his skull cracked open when he landed...relieved some of the pressure inside...but from what I hear..he is still in rough shape...All over a fucking hat.
