Radar Anomaly Out of Huntsville, AL - weather peeps don't even know...

I'm roughly 75 miles from Huntsville.

Smack dab in between Huntsville and Decatur.

Some might say it is a radar fault.

But why does this radar fault happen above a busy airport and a NASA space center. Out of all the locations in the country why there?

yea. maybe moving military equipment around and just jamming radar. like a smoke screen.

I wish I would have saved a screen shot of the May 31st Oklahoma tornado outbreak. That whole day, the area around Oklahoma City(when you zoomed in on the radar) had blue, wavy lines. I've seen ground clutter before, but this was just absolutely weird. It reminded me of waves. Then we had that massive storm with an EF-5, 2.6 mile wide tornado. Something's definitely up.

I'm a few miles east of Huntsville and I don't see anything just looking in that direction.

OK, this sounds fairly reasonable:

But I have a best guess… I think it’s some new kind of yet-to-be unclassified military chaff. Chaff is basically consists of tiny, highly reflective particles (often aluminum) which are sprayed from aircraft or naval ships to defer missiles from their target by creating false returns on radar. The product you’re looking at above is “reflectivity,” and it has high values (highly reflective to radar beam).. too high to be smoke, but about right for chaff.

Well, I can't be sure from this. My husband thinks it has something to do with HAARP. I'm not so sure. It is, however, strange....all these anomalies. Maybe our planetary physics has changed.

Ive been weather watching for 3 decades and havent seen this.


Neither of these are chaff. Chaff moves with the weather once its been deployed. Neither the one in OK or the one in AL moved locations once they started.

Folks watching our Doppler radar might have noticed an odd "shower" developing over western Madison County this afternoon. We still don't know what it was for sure, but our dual-pol radar indicates that it did not happen as a result of the weather (something like smoke, reflective particles, or bugs).

Redstone arsenal is here in huntsville.... So is countless high tech third party research and development companies. A significant quantity of our military tech comes from this city and deployed from here. I would not be surprised if is some new toy they have on the arsenal.

I work on Redstone Arsenal and went outside during the "event." I could see nothing out of the ordinary anywhere around. The sky contained some high level and mid level clouds. I did not smell anything, see or hear any helicopters (though there were reports of more chopper activity in the area), see anything fall from the sky, or sense anything with my spidey sense.

I thought it might be an anomaly of some sort, such as a drop of bird poop or some interference from the sun, but neither of those fit. Huntsville Utilities threw out the idea that perhaps a substation had some damage and was spewing out electronic interference, but they checked out their substations and found nothing wrong with them.

The most likely explanation at this point seems to be some sort of new chaff that the military is testing. You'd think people would see a bunch of it fall from the sky, but perhaps it's much smaller than the typical chaff used in the past or dissipates somehow. The blob never moved over time, either, just grew to its largest shape and pretty much stayed there. A physical chaff should have moved with the wind. Perhaps if it was chaff then it's a spray of some sort that does dissipate. I have no real clue, I'm just throwing stuff out there for thought.

Apparently people are finding some fiberglass chaff around the area. I did see a floating piece of something white, but I thought it was a plant seed of some sort like dandelion. I can't say which it was as I didn't catch it or get a good look at it.

Its not chaff deployed from the air. It stayed in the same location for about 12 hours. Over that same time, aerial chaff would have drited a couple hundred miles downwind.

Which is what I said.

I highly doubt this explanation, for the same reason I gave above about aerial chaff. The fiberglass insulation, if in the air so as to cause a radar anomaly, would have drifted several hundred miles over the course of 12 hours. The radar anomaly did not.

My husband is driving on I20 from Atlanta to Birmingham and is about 30 miles outside of Birmingham right now. Once he hits Birmingham he has to go north to a rural stop up around the Huntsville area. He called to ask what he was driving into as it looked bad but weather.com just shows several big red cells in the area.

its a COVER UP!

Which would imply it's some form of military radar jamming / interference test.
