There are people ahead of her on the list. What they are asking is for her to move ahead of all of the people who were waiting longer. This could cause someone else to die instead. So the only "death panel" is being pushed by the GOP which is trying to save the child and let someone else die in order to score political points by pinning the decision on Sebelius, who can't change the rule anyway.

It is indeed a sad situation that needs to be looked at, but the rules they're following for this case were established well before Obamacare. Uh oh...I guess this makes us shills now.....

The funny thing is that the current transplant policy was drawn up (in 2005) by members of the OPTN, who are medical doctors and came up with a policy that they believe will give most patients the greatest chance of surviving.

And now the Repuiblicans want Sebelius (a politician) to interfere in this decision making and bump the girl up the list, making a decision which could save her life but might also shorten the life of someone else.

So basically the Republicans want a politician to overrule the medical opinion of a doctor to decide if someone lives or dies.

Sounds a bit a death panel, right?
