Obama tells donors: Democrats favor ‘light touch’ on regulation
Making a pitch for Democratic candidates in 2014, President Obama told big donors in California Thursday night that Democrats favor free-market solutions and less government regulation.

“It turns out we’re pretty common-sense folks,” Mr. Obama said at a fundraiser at a private home in Palo Alto, Calif. “We believe in the free market [and] a light touch when it comes to regulations.”

A report by the Heritage Foundation last year found that the Obama administration in its first three years adopted 106 “major regulations” that increased burdens on the private sector, compared with 28 in the same time frame of President George W. Bush's administration. A study by the left-leaning OMB Watch found that total regulations adopted by the Obama administration are roughly equal to the number adopted by other administrations over the past 18 years.

The president raised money Thursday night for Democratic Senate candidates at two fundraisers where donors gave up to $32,400 per person. At the second event, held at the home of Sun Microsytems co-founder Vinod Khosla, Mr. Obama also said government needs to create “a regulatory structure that ensures that we’re encouraging the development of clean energy, and that we’re protecting intellectual property.”

Mr. Obama made a plea for a “functioning government,” and said Republicans too often engage in “stubbornness.” He said government has a critical role to play in funding science and research, in creating new infrastructure and in funding education.

“For us to accomplish that, we’re going to need to have a Democratic Senate,” the president said. “For us to accomplish that, I’d also like a Democratic House. I just want to get stuff done. On too much of the big stuff, what we see coming out of the other party is an interest in winning elections or in obstruction, not enough interest in solving problems.”

For a people who are free, and who mean to remain so, a well-organized and armed militia is their best security.

THERE= a place. not here - THEIR= belongs to them - THEY'RE = short for "They Are". THEN = a point in time; not now. - THAN = used to compare things.
-If you tried 4 times to move forward, it was the FOURTH time you went FORTH! ---Something AFFECTS you. You have an EFFECT on something
Some one can win a MEDAL made of a METAL like gold for showing his METTLE (courage)
If something is LOOSE you might LOSE it. Your=belongs to "you" You're short for "you are"
You file a suit in court. You wear a suit in court. You stay in a suite at the hotel. You sweat it out. Victory is sweet!
If two sets of twin brothers have a gunfight, you have a Dual Duel
MUTE=Silent, unable to talk. MOOT= No longer relevant or important. "A mute points out a moot point."
