It is tropical. Cuttings are taken before cold weather and rooted in water. Be advised, although this plant is eaten daily throught the world, 53 dieters drinking the extract of katuk came up with lung trouble. See link. Kantuk appears to be loved by those people who grow it or once had a patch.

No I don't know about the sapotes but I did buy a black sapote just for fun. It probably will freeze here but....I've never tasted one.

i read that green sapote is more cold hardy and a better flavour than mamey sapote...

Most of our markets carry the standard fruits and vegetables, not many exotics. Exoctics are sometimes sold in oriental and island markets but none near me. There is a market I have been wanting to go to. I will check when I go there.

I am looking forward to going to the market. I hope they carry lots of produce. Someone gave me two longan fruits. I saved the seeds and one is starting to sprout. Still waiting for guanabana (graviola) to sprout. (Planted two weeks ago)

Here we plant fall gardens with spring /summer crops . Seeds are planted now and transplanted in the ground when it cools off a little. Do you do the same? In the winter we grow cool season crops all the way thru spring then start planting spring/summer crops again. I have been busy :)

we plant all the year... only seasonal crops are planted in january to february
