Some kind of cure has been found, but it involves the principle of sacrifice. Sacrifice of a bloodline, or a group, it seems.
Could you explain this more, or link material. Who or what are the sacrifices made to? Why do those things demanding sacrifice become unbeatable to you? What quarantined them if they are so powerful? For instance, a fat, dumb boss at a job may seem very powerful to even smarter workers below him, or her. It is people putting others on pedestals due to a learned, or taught trauma based programming schema. A pyramid of rank and file, making everyone -- as you put it: memories erased, now dependent on these rulers for a purpose, and reality. They sound more like a consuming virus to me.
I think you may be hitting a mental wall. Get through it for more understanding. Or maybe I am wrong. Each to their own.

I gurantee you will soon notice that the idea of sacrifice seems to be at the core of it all. As far as links, I have presented the thesis, and referenced some media I feel communicates the theme. Go look in to those. Try reading the bible as well. Sacrifice is literally the only thing that book is about. Ask yourself what this actually means, not what the preachers tell you it means.
