Do you know about Sterling Engines? Man I'd like to import a Sterling engine tractor.

Much better OP! Tell me about the water. I have just a regular Brita filter but am looking to make my drinking water as pure as possible. Any suggestions?

In the air-well setup I made, the AIR is filtered before it is condensed, the water is filtered and then stored under ultraviolet light.

I drink only out of pure silver vessels.

No problems with it yet, PPM tests are all well within limits, and much better than my fellow homesteaders on well systems.

Rain water is RADIOACTIVE now from Fukushima.

What do you do to mitigate the contamination?

I have a Seychelle NBC water filter.

Check ebay!!

They even make a radiological filter straw!

Do not think of "math"
Math is just a language that is used to confuse. A way for monkeys to apply their 10-finger number system to try understand the complexities of the universe.

Start by constructing a tesla coil induction system. You can get the parts you need in a simple stun-gun!

Thank you kindly.

I was so disheartened at the idea of slaving for 40+ years, and saw my parents lose their 401k and the value on the house they had worked so hard for.

I had to escape the system, so I figured it out.

Re: I'm 25, debt-free, own land, make my own power, grow my own food and produce my own water. Questions?
I decided to start this thread as the Baby-Boomers seem to define "success" as the amount of crappy chinese made shit you have, and a number on a computer screen that represents your worth to society, and slaving away to pay off a mortgage and debt.

I reject that notion, and would like to present what I believe to be true success.

I purchased unincorporated land with just over $100.00 in annual property taxes.

I constructed my own abode using various shipping containers.

I power my own systems with vertical wind turbines (self-built) solar Fresnel concentrators, and a waterwheel that is gravity fed from my raincatcher.

I grow my own food using a closed-cycle aquaponics system that includes tilapia and quail for protein, and 50 different veggies that are grown year round under LED lighting in a climate controlled container setup.

I produce my own water through rain harvesting, and a large scale "air-well"

I have everything I need, and all the modern comforts, but never have to work a day for the rest of my life.

I am happy to answer any questions you may have.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 35385278

that is pretty awesome! i think it would be great to be off the grid and never have the risk of not being able to pay a mortgage due to lose of work / health issue and then going homeless again.

i don't know how to do any of the stuff you mentioned....have looked at the shipping containers as a possible home situation, but i do like lots of space.

you could start up a business / free lance (if you wanted) helping people do what you did. so many people would probably love to do this but don't have the know how or the strength to do on their own.

i have some land now, which i could sell to buy more land, but not sure i want to stay in the USA or wherever.

if you decide to let people pay you for helping them, please share that information.

Death threat?

I am beginning to believe you are paranoid and a bit delusional as he only asked a question of you.

The whole fact your thread is about you getting away from "society" and the "social structure" that is set up in your eyes, I believe that was a valid question and deserves an answer.

None of us are getting out alive and I think your full of crap.

Couple questions of you

1. Cost of total operation?

2. What kind of battery system do you use?

3. What type of septic system are you using?

4. What kind of foundation are these containers on

5. Where did the cash come from to complete this project.

6. Is your acreage fenced in all around?

7. How many cargo containers?

8 How are they attached together?

9. How did you set them on the property, crane or forklift?

10. Are you saying you are using "refrigeration process" to condense water for your drinking supply?

How do you produce your own water? Are you able to combine hydrogen with 2 molecules of oxygen? Most likely, no. Are you storing snow? No. You are probably taking water from a well/aquifer.

Im inclined to not answer any of your questions after that... whatever though.

Couple questions of you

1. Cost of total operation?

Set up, $10,000 for land, 5,000 for "other stuff" container, supplies, seeds etc.

2. What kind of battery system do you use?

I have a simple 12 volt car battery deep-cycle system with inverter.

3. Why no mention of solar?

I did mention solar. Read the OP

4. What kind of foundation are these containers on
Concrete.

5. Where did the cash come from to complete this project.
I sold power generation and aquaponics systems to others.

6. Is your acreage fenced in all around?
No, but I am working on that.

7. How many cargo containers?

4 total. 2 are underground. One is an underground aquaponics room, the other a living space.

8 How are they attached together?
They are welded.

9. How did you set them on the property, crane or forklift?
I rented a backhoe and a small crane for several weeks.

10. Are you saying you are using "refrigeration process" to condense water for your drinking supply?
Yes!
