The buildings were wired for demolition and were brought down after the terrorists crashed the planes--but the government already knew this was going to happen a month in advance and had plenty of time to prepare the "site". The pentagon attack was staged using a rocket and the passenger plane demolished over the Atlantic near Greenland. The FBI was involved and secured the site and the evidence so that the steel girders could be destroyed.
