Re: New Guy Here.
Sooo, I went and got coffee and now I'm all hyped up on caffeine. So, this is what I am going to say today.

Please understand that men and women are different. What you perceive in the opposite sex may or may not actually be there. Science somewhat explains it by saying that men are x and y chromosomes and women are two x chromosomes. Psychology somewhat explains it by saying that we all have a "lens" that we look out of in our minds. I actually consider myself to have 2 lenses, one more dominant over the other, I feel. So, I do not believe that a man can actually know his wife and I do not believe that a woman can know her husband, entirely. Just the way that men and women are made up. Science says that men are decaying and women are decaying and regenerating and staying at the level of which having no flaws. If this is true then, eventually men will ware out and there will be nobody left if a change does not occur. We have to change or mutate somehow to survive.
At the end there is only love. -Alkaline Trio

geez, I read that whole darn thing, I thought it was a parable
"It's a friendly friendly world" (Andy Kaufman)
Calm seas do not a sailor make,
Nor easy horses, a horseman.
And Jesus was a sailor when he walked upon the water And he spent a long time watching from his lonely wooden tower and when He could be certain only drowning men could see Him- Leonard Cohen

Ok, to me...

Good and Evil exist, but that is just what one calls the other one. I have seen both and to be honest, in my opinion, they are both "good". They are both trying to help people. All you have to do is believe in one of the gods, either the god of Evil or the god of Good, and you will be prosperous in the world. You will fight the other one, however, because when a thing is supposedly good and hates another good thing, they become jealous of each other. I grew up in a very "fightful" house. There was a lot of yelling and loud noises. I am not about fighting. I refrain from fighting. I will actually take out needed agression on myself actually because it feels "good". Now, I cannot explain how it feels good but, I know that if I do feel pain, there is at first hurt. Then, after the hurt comes pleasure. This tells me that it may not be what science calls those things that alleviate pain that the brain emits. Because, if there were an over abundance of them in my blood stream, wouldn't I just feel pleasure? So, I am tending toward another conclusion. Somehow, I am a mutant. Like in my previous post about how we need to "mutate or change" to survive, I believe that I have mutated to heal myself. I turn pain into pleasure. So this means, I may not be able to ware out further in my genetic make up. If I am balanced in this way, then I must be an answer to the decaying problem.

I'm telling you guys all this stuff because this is what I think about. I'm not asking you to judge me on it. You can take it or leave it.

Re: New Guy Here.
Nate, you're absolutely correct by stating you have to experience pain before you can experience pleasure. It is that way because without knowing or experiencing the negative, you have no way to know what it feels like to be happy. Of course, by pain, I'm referring to emotional/spiritual pain, not physical pain. I hope you mean the same thing.

As for good and evil, well, they both exist because without one, there would be no other.

The universe is a mirror.
Goodbye, halcyon days...

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.

There is another theory mentioned, which states that this has already happened.

Nirvana? Enlightenment?

Nate, have you read "Sidharta" by Herman Hesse? If not, check it out.

I know what you're talking about. You're talking about the Buddha, right? I have heard the statement that a person needs to experience pain in order to experience pleasure, but I don't think that's how endorphins work. Endorphins deaden the pain in which you feel. Runner's high I think/feel is produced by deadening the pain of running so much that you feel free as you run. I don't know if freedom is a pleasurable experience. It's just being free haha. Freedom can entail freedom from the so called having to feel pain in order to experience pleasure teaching.

You sound like your into S&M, or something related. Are you? Because normally people who equate pain with pleasure are, because they get addicted to the "pleasure" response they get from pain. Im not judging you by the way, Im just asking.

Whoa.. .I'm next door in Greenwich!
 Quoting: KarinZa

Greenwich? Wow. Hi, 'neighbor'!

My husband died there three times in one day after being stung by a bee in someone's yard.

Having just parked his car for a 4th of July holiday weekend extravaganza at the home of his old friend/record producer, with his Greenwich hosts at the door greeting him while he walked towards them, a bee landed under his sunglasses, stinging him near his eye.

After flinging off his glasses and yelling out 'OW! YOW! did you see that?' he laughed, pressing on his eye while giving out kisses and hugs.

He collapsed moments later in their hallway, actually dying.

Thank the Nate his friend had an Epipen stashed where he could find it...although it had expired some years earlier, so my husband died once again in the ambulance on the way to Greenwich Hospital, and was revived for a third time in their emergency room.

The experience of dying changed my husband's view on life. It became a point of reference for a new song, and unwittingly helped him come to terms with dying permanently when he later discovered he had brain cancer.

That's my most interesting Greenwich story.
