Being a member of Congress, or any "higher authority," has it's priveledges. Congress has always had permission to make loads of money from inside trading.

Isn't there an Island, that we own, where we could send them. We can leave them temp housing and food until they figure out how to get their own! Of course some tools and books for survival, matches and flint and a stone. I'd even throw in some seeds and cloth, needles and thread, scissors, things they would need until they learned to take care of themselves. They would have to work together or they wouldn't survive. That would keep them out of our hair and they could be all on their own, they probably would fight for a power structure after awhile.

We would have to drop medical supplies ever now and again, they would probably have a doctor and nurse maybe more in their group.

I hope this comes to something. You know how you used to look in a magazine see some and wish you could get it, here wishing!

My problem is, if Roberts really was blackmailed, and I think the blackmail involved breaking Irish laws, during,the adoption of his children, then he will be forced to resign, which he will most likely do right away.

That leaves Obama, who I seriously doubt will resign or leave office without the help of some lube, a crowbar and a shoehorn, who will still be in the position to nominate the next scotus member, before he is pushed out of office.

And if he is forced out , or does decide to resign fairly quickly, then Biden will then be in charge and will choose the next nominee.

God only knows who either of them will nominate. And that person could be in there for decades, depending on their age.

Obama has placed 2 communists on scotus already. Do we really want a third as a final eff you, from Obama?

In my mind, especially if it was a threat that he would lose his children, Americans shoukd give him a free pass.

I speak to this as an adoptive father. We went through a lengthy and convoluted process to adopt our son internationally. We also went about it through legal, aboveboard processes. IF Roberts went about it through illegal means, I have no sympathy for him. The ones I do have sympathy for are his children. They were pawns in a game that they had no control over. I don't think they should void the adoption or take the kids from him. I do think he should resign. That being said, I don't think Obama or his administration should be allowed to pick the new SCOTUS justice. That would be kind of like the crook being allowed to hire a new cop. I would say it should be up to congress to select the new justice and should require 2/3 majority in BOTH houses.

Supremes should not be justices for life at all. Some will argue that lifetime terms are necessary for consistency, but consistency is already there in the Constitution and case law. All lifetime terms do is promote corruption and manipulation of the court as pawns of the other two branches.

I agree...This is my plan on term limits:

POTUS: gets ONE 6 year term. That way, the President is not in re-election mode halfway through his first term. He only gets one and can concentrate on the job of being President.

Congress: Cannot exceed a total of 12 years of service in lifetime.

Supreme Court: 12 year term.
