No one wants your DNA. Farmers won't get sued for having Monsanto cross pollinating. Free market for seeds. It's a win.

Thank heaven they've ruled against the patenting of any part of the Human Genome. I don't see how anyone could CLAIM to patent save the GOD that CREATED IT - and NO ONE ELSE!

This will save many people a LOT of litigation over their own genome being something that doesn't belong to them.

I'd rather have it like this, and just try to keep my DNA a secret. Than let THEM patent MY DNA, and then I lose certain rights to my own body, or have to pay them a fee to live, or who knows what!

with this being said.....and the ruling about the dna being NATURAL....same for everything else...this guy has a point!....they are natural!

You know someway, somehow this ruling will be twisted to serve the ever increasing Orwellian police state. Remember the ruling on the cheek swabs? If you get arrested "they" can force a dna test on you. Maybe if you could have patented yourself they couldn't get you in their database.

I take a minute to review something that happened
here on GLP last month in our thread on the
film "FEARLESS"? o.k.

I feel somewhat sad--though--that the pressure
brought to bare on some people who may have been
in the position to gain financially/politically
from this issue COMPROMISED THEIR OWN VALUES to
take up sides on gene-patents. I am thinking
that the main example of such "peer pressure"
being Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt--to RUIN THEIR
CAREERS over this issue. There has been a "toll"
taken in the lives of many people over the vote!

I hosted the thread on numerology-based predictive
clues in the film "FEARLESS" W/jEFF Bridges in

(Those "messages" were interpretations of number
streams in the key words of "FEARLESS"--and
using the "Gemetria Calculator" we can get the
numbers to be interpreted into words/word phrases.
These are a couple of the quotes form the thread.
I SERIOUSLY BELIEVE that the vote this summer--
especially as concerns the GENETIC COMPANIES who
manufacture pre-cancer gene screening....AND BIG
PHARMA (who stood to gain BILLIONS OF DOLLARS
from this vote)--combined with "high-profile
individuals" who could act as these big-roller's
"spokesman/woman" for this "gene" issue
WERE A "PERFECT STORM"! It all caused two
very beloved Hollywood actors to, FRANKLY, go
APE-SHIT with the prospect of personal gain/fame
and made a 2nd-party "shadow-endorsement" for the
Genetic company "Myriad Genetics." (Myriad
Genetics is the Salt Lake City, UT based company
whose pre-cancer test gave Jolie and Pitt the
idea to have "elective non-cancer surgery" of both
Jolie's breasts.)

THAT will probably never be proven...it is something
ONLY THE PARTICULAR PARTIES would have knowledge of...
so it falls into just "conspiracy"/rumor at this
point--but I have a hinky that this is EXACTLY
WHAT TRANSPIRED. As they say in the bible: "More
will be revealed." And..."Be sure--your secrets
will find you out!" (They surely will do that!)


I pray that I'm wrong--because Brad Pitt has been
my daughter's hero for years...and many many
young women mirror Angelina Jolie as a STRONG
and INTELLIGENT female role model. (Her elective
surgery is a TERRIFYING up-tick in "Big Pharma"
propaganda to influence young women to seek
totally unnecessary medical proceedures and
elective-surgeries! OMG....)

Being that this vote has CRASHED BEAUTIFULLY--
has FAILED...I look for Pitt and Jolie to have
some SERIOUS MARRIAGE-RELATIONS DIFFICULTIES.

I heard that 20% of the human genome was already patented by major corporations. I was blown away by even the idea of it! Man has been on this planet for untold thousands of years and now corporations where going to take credit for having "invented" us?! That aside, do you know what this means? If no one can patent the human genome then no one can own the human genome. And if no one can own the human genome, no one can own a human being. So therefore ANY and ALL forms of slavery INCLUDING temporary incarceration of a human being MUST be illegal! (The same could be said of all insects, plants and animals). Furthermore, if any human being claims to be able to do these things by "divine authority" such as the Bible, the burden of proof belongs to them. They must prove that man has this authority over ANY created being making use of genetic material; mineral, insect, planet, animal or man. This alone might potentially either re-validate the notion of "God" and man's inherent realtionship to Him, his use of the planet and his divinely given rights to life deemed "inferior" to him, OR if God does not exist as many atheist claim, and the human genome cannot be patented as the Supreme Court has ruled, Then our entire ASSUMPTION as to what man can do with said beings who contain human genetics must be re-evaluated. For those who have been incarcerated for having violated the rule of law, or those who have had their genetics involutarily taken from them, if no one who is "Human" who contains genetic material is any different from those who have been so accused, they cannot do what they wilt with said "property" without the consent of it's owner! Since there is no "God" representative as owner of said creature (and they have already taken out the Ten Commandments from public places) what gives anyone the right to do as they please whether governmentally constitutional or not, with ANY living creature? This country was founded upon Laws which were founded in morals which were founded in the belief in a God. But it has become an insane assylum and a DNA saughter house instead. If there is no God then it is every man for himself and chaos rules. If there is a God, by what structure of delegation of authority besides predatory opportunism does He dole out the right of one human being to subjugate another. What i am saying is simple, "WE the People" are functioning under an aweful lot of contradictory assumptions. And if you play the numbers game, that is "he who has the gold makes the rules", by what base ediface does man portend to determine his brother's worth especially in a 24/7 totalitarian surveillance state?? We already have that protection you have to use it! The $th amendment to the Bill of Right. I would write it but I would have to go look it up, so I wouldn't mess up, can't see that well right now. That is where you protection is and don't sign anything without reading the fine print. Seems like a good choice! I understand why companies want protection for their intellectual property, most of us don't have the technology to analyze genes to discover which might be markers for future illnesses or disease, but I'm glad the Supreme Court decided genes are natural and therefore not patentable!

I'm happy.

They will keep trying like these entities do and eventually get what they want because they have far more resources and power than we do. We stand divided by our masters, they stand united against us, its no contest.
