ISAIAH 55 6 Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: 7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. 8 FOR MY THOUGHTS ARE NOT YOUR THOUGHTS, NEITHER ARE YOUR WAYS MY WAYS, SAITH THE LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. God created the universe. He owns all of it. He makes the rules. We obey, or disobey at our peril. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 41672729 Australia 06/13/2013 11:44 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Bible does mention Hell but the word Hell generally comes from the Greek Word "Sheol" meaning "The Grave" [link to www.vatileaks.com] They also Burned them and the peoples who choose to follow God's Word instead of The "Mother" Church of Rome Eventually The Papacy choose to create their own Bibles (plus other forgery's, letters from Heaven etc) They Choose the Corrupt "Alexandrian" manuscript that was (Apparently) found in a 1,000 year old Bin, the textus receptus (received text's) didn't match up with their version: The Alexandrian Manuscript had over 3,400 revisions in it, which is what Most of the Modern Bibles are Based on, the NIV etc The Safest Word is the Original King James Bible, Not for any other reason then that of it being compared to the others Uplifts Christ, were as the ones written afterwards seem to delete His words and remove whole and half sentences from Christ If we were to Ban the Bible what would a man trust instead? "But He answered, "It is written: Man must not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God." Matthew 4:4 There are people today that believe that eating a Sun-shaped wafer will get them to Heaven Alone instead of THE Repentance of Sins, Forgiveness And Salvation through Christ's Grace and His precious Blood atonement. Hell generally just means the Grave in the Scriptures, however there is a Lake of Fire (future Event) after the Judgement which was prepared for the Devil and The Evil angels to go into and be consumed by. God and Heaven Delight in Mercy, The Goodness of Heaven is Misrepresented when one speaks of an eternal Hell, The Devil will not burn forever how much less so will a man? "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him SHOULD NOT PERISH, but have everlasting life." Hell was introduced so man made religionists could cow their parishoners into subjection. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 41200546 That's the stuff. The early church fathers of the first couple of centuries widely believed in the eventual redemption of everyone - but when Rome took over and paganized everything, this doctrine magically became Heresy, and in its place they celebrated the notion of something called Eternal Damnation, which today still stands as the biggest idol in the house. |

docjohnny User ID: 41246126 United States 06/14/2013 12:28 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I think you should look at this from a broader perspective, even if you aren't a theist. First, let's assume (That's right, I'm not saying it is so, but it is useful to assume it so because many believe it and I want you to see the logic from the believer's perspective.) that God is omnipotent. Most Christians believe in an all-powerful God. An all-powerful God could force anyone to do anything. Second, let's continue to assume (Please bear with me) that God is love. The Bible not only says that God is love but goes on to assert that humans love because God first loved humans. (Don't panic. We'll get to the "hell" part in a moment.) But LOVE would NOT mean forcing the "loved one" to do God's will. LOVE allows for a free choice. Anything less would be divine rape. Third, there are other things the Bible says about God that will come into play--God is good, God is light, etc. Let's continue to build this framework common to most believers. NOW, let's move to humankind. IF humankind has free will, that means that humankind can say, "NO!" or even a more polite, "No, thank you" to God. Regardless of whether it is emphatic or polite, it rejects God's love. Regardless, it says that the individual does not want to be included in God's love. This, for the theist, creates a problem. If God is omnipresent (as many Christians believe) and God is omnipotent, but God wants to preserve the reality of human free will, God has to create a dimensional reality where God has set the boundary, where God will not go and God will not interfere. That is the only way to validate the rejection made by the human. Finally, to extrapolate on the earlier assumptions, IF those are true and IF God deliberately restricts God's own self from a certain dimensional reality, what would be missing? If God is inherent goodness, this realm would be inherent evil. If God is inherent love, this realm would be without love. If God is peace, this realm would be in constant turmoil. If God is light, this place would be dark. If God wants what is best for you, this place would be what is worst for you. Now, did God CHOOSE what is worst for the one who rejects God? No, human free will rejected God. So, IF God is an honorable being and IF God had to restrict God's own self from this dimension to allow humanity true freedom from God, that would mean that the human is choosing hell. Will this dimensionality have beings with spiked tails and pitchforks? Will it have fire and brimstone? Perhaps, sometimes parables and metaphors reflect a reality even greater than themselves and Jesus compared "hell" with "Gehenna," the burning garbage dump outside of Jerusalem. But IF God continues to subject humankind with God's light, love, goodness, and peace throughout eternity AFTER humanity has rejected God, God is not honorable. So, either humanity can have free will in this scenario or God has to perform the divine rape of forcing everyone to believe. IF you don't believe in an omnipotent and omnipresent God, you don't logically have to go down this path. But if you are a theist, you either end up with an unfair God who forces God's being upon you or a fair God who let's you reject what God offers--even if it is presumably good. I happen to be a Christian. I don't pretend to know exactly what hell would be like. I perceive heaven and hell as part of the multiverse's many-faceted dimensional possibilities. That's just handy mental shorthand for me. But I personally love God and trust Jesus and I don't want to live in a dimension without them. I just ask that next time you try to wrap your head around "hell," don't think of it as eternal punishment, think of it as, perhaps, not being careful about the freedom you think you want. Of course, these last two paragraphs come from my personal bias and the opening thesis of this thread says I need to see a shrink. docjohnny |

That is the only way to validate the rejection made by the human. Quoting: docjohnny I appreciate your intent to logically walk through this, but the scenario isn't scriptural. There's no place where God is not, or does not go or will not be. Psalm 139 says He's even in "hell" (sheol),, and Revelation 14 says those in the lake of fire will be in the presence of the Lamb. To their credit, Christians who are honestly wanting this thing to fit together squarely somehow will often claim that Hell is simply a place without God, as a destiny of separation from Him, but this is just more contrived junk glued onto the idol so it won't wobble. Perhaps, sometimes parables and metaphors reflect a reality even greater than themselves and Jesus compared "hell" with "Gehenna," the burning garbage dump outside of Jerusalem. Quoting: docjohnny He wasn't "comparing" anything. He was deliberately referring to this maggot-infested landfill called Gehenna where the deceased remains of Jerusalem's citizens were dumped by Roman soldiers merely 40 years after Jesus gave this warning. He was alerting them of a specific national judgment that has since come and gone. |
