Your first mistake is apparently thinking that this POS movie is actually Star Trek. It is NOT.

JJ doesn't know Star Trek from Star Wars. He is LOST. In trying to make his own Star Trek, he has instead created an insult to Gene Roddenberry.

I'm sure when he makes his EP VII of Star Wars, Mickey and Minney and a LOST polar bear will be the new characters. I'm sure the evil Death Star will will be shaped like Mickey's ears.
