Paying money in any amount for useless, mind, numbing, crap now...That's the issue. Not just "No", but "Hell No!" I'll save it for a half of tank of gas. LOL! |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 41722755 I havent been to a cinema for about 15 years. Hell i remember the times when i was a teenager i could go to the cinema for 5 DM . Now a crad costs 10 euro. so it´s 4 times as much in about twenty years. i saw Up In Smoke when it came out with 3 others for the twilight movie price of $1.75 each. brought in a 10 inch bong shaped and colored like a peanut with a Jimmy Carter smilin face on it and smoked some beautifully colored baby shit Acapulco Gold. brought in 12 Burger King cheeseburgers with six fries. Stuffed a couple packs of red licorice and 4 pints of cheap vodka mixed with a couple splashes of 7UP in our coats and used the licorice as straws. besides the weed that i bought, i'm not sure all of that even cost $35 for the 4 of us. we had a blast and besides some crazy drive in movie fun, that was probably the most fun i've ever had in a movie theater. never again... Sounds fun, and a long time ago! I'd puke though, if I smoked, drank vodka and ate greasy food. I do however sneak in bottles of pre-boozed sodas and my own candy. I laugh at those who think it's morally wrong not to pay $10 for a soda and a box of raisinets. Guess I'm going to hell! I also sneak little bottles of booze into restaurant bars if I will be there for a few hours. I pour them into my drinks. So there. What's funny is bringing cans of beer into a theatre and trying to time the cracking open of them to coincide with a loud part of the movie and ending up doing it right when it's quiet...awkward! But yeah, I'm all about BYOB! hehe...was once booted out of a theater when the 240z beer can slid outta my hand then spewed a small geyser straight up and on top of 3 people in front of us and us. it then proceeded to roll down under a few seats leakin stinky Schlitz Malt Liquor on the way. good times... |
eatinmraw User ID: 13951732 United States 06/16/2013 12:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The movie industry will CEASE TO EXIST before anyone pays 50 bucks for a movie...especially when you can get everything for FREE online nowadays! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21351810 LOL. Heh, you've heard of inflation, right? I predict a movie ticket will be 1 billion in the future. However, I don't actually expect that to be within my lifetime. People tend to sooner or later buy what they like. Movie theaters are never going to be empty, it is a very social way of watching a movie, and ppl will never quit going with their friends. I also foresee a future where movie theaters will show older movies to a larger extent than today. Granted, the way of doing business will change, people buying movies in the future will probably expect a wee bit more than just the movie on a piece of plastic. Cheaper equipment also makes movies cheaper to produce. Both lucas and spielberg are wrong though, this is not the death of hollywood, but rather a new beginning. Hollywood will lose influence, but indie-filmmakers all over the world are gaining. |

Nobodies will become somebodies once the Hollywood monolith gives up its breathe and distribution control. Hollywood isn't the only portal for film production, other countries as well have wonderful talent, its just difficult to see these production because of Hollywood media control. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 36669228 Canada 06/16/2013 12:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Not a chance in hell will I or anyone I know pay even 20.00 to go to a movie! Sad enough I already have to pay to see a movie and still have to watch commercials! I remember when you went to the movies (usually a double bill) and before the movie you watched previews and a free cartoon or featurette - now it's damn commercials. I think they make their profits by volume and if they put those kinds of fees on it the volume will disappear. |
Requiemdream (Ghost) User ID: 11350058 United States 06/16/2013 12:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Some of you seem to think you can "watch on youtube" or "buy the dvd". They aren't going to let us off that easy. In case you haven't noticed, YouTube hardly has ANY movies on, and they have split releases between Netflix, Amazon, Redbox, etc. so you would almost have to subscribe to all of them if you want full access. DVDs, BluRay whatever is probably going to go up as well. After really thinking about it...haven't they been putting out shit movies for the last few years anyway? What strikes me as odd is that they release garbage films, like for instance remaking the same film repeatedly, then they spout their views all over the place until the average viewer is sick to death of it. Now they expect to get $50+ per ticket? I think they either have an over inflated self image, or they are self-destructing? Consider all the TEOTW type movies they have been making, the selling off of their homes at below value, Lucas selling Star Wars, or even the Shia LeBeouf interview where he talked about the NSA phone monitoring. I even find it weird how Mel Gibson shut up and fell in line, so to speak. The CIA is thick in Hollywood. There maybe more going on than meets the eye. Of course, I rarely take things at face value.... Perpetually dumbfounded. “I have learned now that while those who speak about one's miseries usually hurt, those who keep silence hurt more." C.S. Also, when actors open their pieholes to vomit their political views I never pay to see one more of their movies! Quoting: Watcher 10620076 That's my problem. There are almost no actors left I'm willing to spend money to see. They have for the most part all opened their filthy fucking mouths against the constitution in one way or another and I refuse to spend money on their movies. Bunch of fucking hypocrites. When Ice T makes a new move I'll go to the movie theater and even spend 50.00 on it. First, I don't watch their movies because of their political views, because they are for entertainment...their opinions don't mean shit... Second, even Brad Pitt said (paraphrasing) "Why ask me, I put on makeup and play make-believe for a living" There are several conservative actors...including Brad and Clint Eastwood... At the end of the day, I don't care about their politics, I watch their movies for entertainment, that's all they are worth... You want to continue funding Jamie Foxx and Jim Carrey be my guest. I'll never spend a dime on their movies again, I don't care how much entertainment value you think they are going to give you for 50.00. There are some actors left I'll spend money on, but that list is far shorter then those I won't go see. Charging 50.00 ...can you imagine taking a family of five? That's a 300.00 night with popcorn and slurpies. Fuck that. |
