Same, only I've occasionally gotten Amber Alerts. Also severe weather alerts which are pretty useful.

I can disable the alerts anytime I feel like it though.

This has been in place. It's called the EAS or Emergency Alert System.

It allows sending emergency messages targeted to ANY zip code, city, county, state, or country.

AT&T can track you and send messages. I do not care for the idea of them allowing the government to do the same but the keyword here is emergency. It is probably like weather alerts but a bit more serious.

I am thinking this is like an air siren idea but a little to much right now.
