What you saw was the temporary chemical alteration/degradation of your brain's perceptive functions due to the digestion of potent toxic compounds.

I've had many a great time on hallucinogenics, but my knowledge and understanding of drug chemistry and how it affects humans trumps the esoteric notion that they lift some sort of veil on our physical and spiritual realities.

They can do a great amount of good and can be seen as enlightening, spiritual and many more things, but don't deny that It's literally all in your head.
