my wife works in the office at a large establishment, they weigh the bottles every morning and compare against the night before sales.

in that kind of business you can't trust anyone it seems. otherwise they will not ring in drinks and pocket the cash, or serve their friends doubles or premiums without charging the right price etc etc.

It would help if your ePOS System was something upto date, for example Aztec. Something where you can compare transactions to cctv footage and cross ref it. Then get the little fuckers to explain their actions.

Just think before you act. Assult with intent is worse than theft in the eyes of the law. What may be beneficial is to go through the whole shifts CCTV and work out an average of what they stole, go back through whatever system you have in place to track cash/stock loss and then call the police. I literally summary dismissed someone last week who had been stealing an average of £800 a week for over a year. He's being made to pay it all back with damages. We are looking to prosecute for fraud, so any job he goes for in the future that requires a CRB check he will be unable to obtain. Food for thought.

Hire competent people who will produce for you instead of stealing from you.
Do background checks on the people you hire.

Yea, that's right, sometimes I take shots at work or a little baileys in my coffee. The owners are a couple of no good cheapskates that treat their employees like shit, have a horrible kitchen that serves shit food that would probably not pass a health inspection and steal from the employees. I mean steal too, the bussers are always talking about their tip shares not seeming right, they hand over credit card charges to us the bartenders/waitstaff (I have never had that at one of these jobs, that is on the business to pay for merchant services) and are to cheap to pay for a manager or bartender to be on during lunch. It's fucking open season at lunch time, shot's is the thing to do.

The money you do make is fucking great and the "perks" are nice too, so I stick it out.

If you fire them, you can always tell your new hires that the last chaps here were fired, and are currently serving prison terms for their thievery. Wouldn't be true, but sometimes, management by fear is the only thing people understand.

Yea I agree too, taking money is terrible, but taking a shot out of a bottle that costs the owner 25 bucks and they make more than 200 on, is another.

i wanna beat there ass because i reckon this has been going on for months, i have done everything for them even moved them house when one was moving to a new home, gave them extra shifts to pay for there new place, i trusted them alot!
