Police dog in Georgia found dead of heat stroke in patrol car
The 3-year-old dog, a Belgian Malinois named Spartacus, was found dead Monday night inside the K-9 handler's car, which was parked outside his home, Brittany Duncan, a Woodstock Police Department spokeswoman, said in a written statement.

A necropsy requested by the police department determined the cause of death was heat stroke, the statement said.

Every year. Dogs and Kids. Will people ever learn?
"The world will soon wake up to the reality that everyone is broke and can collect nothing from the bankrupt, who are owed unlimited amounts by the insolvent, who are attempting to make late payments on a bank holiday in the wrong country, with an unacceptable currency, against defaulted collateral, of which nobody is sure who holds title."

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

Re: Police dog in Georgia found dead of heat stroke in patrol car
My half-brother is a K-9 cop. He's got a Shepard that's about as big as a horse. Name is Marshal. The dog is pompous. Seriously it is smarter than most 8 year old children. I can talk to the dog in complete sentences and it understands exactly what I'm saying. Its creepy.

Anyway, this dog is so smart, that it constantly butts heads with my broham. You never know if its gonna do his job or blow you off. He doesn't like being ordered around and the thing is so smart and so experienced that you just don't know about the fucker.

Anyway, it would not surprise me if a cop intentionally killed the dog. It'd be like having a partner that is always trying to "one up" you. Know what I mean? Its unlikely, but I'm just saying.

Simply pathetic!! I wish we would start dishing out doses of this shit for the cops and moms that leave their kids in cars to fry....DO TO SAME SHIT TO THEM!! Put their fat, f*cking mugs in a car when its 86° out ...makes it 96-100° inside a sweltering car quick.
Guaranteed people WILL stop doing this shit!
That cop killed his own partner! Paybacks are a bitch Dog Killer.

Where the CHARGES of neglect here? Anyone of us would be in jail if we let this happen. A drug dog is a drug POLICE entity. That means hurt one of them and you have hurt a POLICE entity. I cannot say human here. I say doom for that fkn police that let that fkn dog die while he was inside a airconditioned house doing notelling what.Jail for him he let a POLICE dog die.

This happens waytoo often!

A Bexar County Sheriff's deputy was placed on administrative leave this week after the two police dogs he cared for were left inside a sweltering county vehicle overnight, killing them, authorities said.

Sheriff's Deputy Steve Benoy, who has been with the office for 23 years, is on a 10-day leave while the department investigates the deaths of the two Belgian Malinois. Although authorities said they believe the dogs suffered from apparent heat exhaustion, Animal Care Services is conducting a necropsy.

Send the cop a bill.

It cost between 15-25k to train those dogs.

It was negligence, he should pay.

Re: Police dog in Georgia found dead of heat stroke in patrol car
That's sad. The 'Hot Dog' system probably failed. I shit you not, that's what they call the mechanism that keeps the back part of the K9 cars cool. I don't know about every department, but some have that technology, the car is "off" but part of it stays on for cooling the dog. (At least I think that's how it works, don't crucify me if I'm wrong).

Edit:
here's the link to what it is, I imagine not all depts can afford it though, so maybe that guy was just a douche
