glp help needed. ebay is acting like a bunch of morans!
So last week I'm bidding on two items from the same seller.

I ask if he would take $40 for both and he agrees. The bid on one item was $10 the other $5. He said just send the other $25 to his paypal account.

I said eBay will throw a fit if we take any part of this outside of eBay. But in the future, I'd buy items directly through paypal. And told him to add $25 to the shipping on the invoice.

I get an account warning saying my account was part of a deal to take the transaction off eBay.

So I call (the Philippines of course) and the lady reads my message where I said eBay will throw a fit if we take any part of this outside of eBay.

I said can you read that again, obviously if I said eBay would throw a fit I didn't attempt to take it out of eBay.

She goes on to tell me because I said future transactions. And that if an item is $50 they get 10% but if shipping is $25 they don't get anything. At this point I'm thinking well since you guys have hit my shipping for a final value fee for the last year or two, you guys probably owe me $1,000!

I said once I make a business relationship you guys aren't entitled to any fees.

She says well no worries it was just a warning. Isn't a warning the first step in action being taken against you?

Especially if these retards mix something else up, I've already been given a warning.

I also told them I didn't appreciate eBay giving my phone number to a "trading partner" a couple weeks ago and still hadn't heard back about that.

That's really what you had to add to the thread? Obviously I know that! Do you know eBay charges 10% and paypal 2.9%?

The point is I didn't try to avoid the 10% as I was the buyer. And would you rather pay both of those fees or just the 2.9%?

She was wrong, eBay now takes fees from shipping. Makes no difference final value fee includes shipping

A warning isn't much of anything for a buyer. However the seller is in trouble.

It's was just annoying. Seems like my message was clear enough to keep them from warning me.

Also they act like I've agreed to pay them royalties on all future business with this guy.

Sad thing is most people are to stupid to use eBay correctly, so I was also selling myself the item on top of buying it.

But that's how eBay is most of the time!

I made a living for 3 years doing nothing but ebay...

NEVER do anything outside of paypal or you won't have buyer protection (ability to get a refund if things go south)

Also...always pay with the Debit option...if you do a straight bank transfer, for some reason it doesn't record it in your paypal transaction history and also can't be used for buyer protection.

Also...only deal with users that have multiple positive feedback....if they have only sold a few items, be wary.

I learned that in my first month of selling when almost anything I bought 'outside' of paypal never arrived and the seller's accounts disappeared. There are many scammers to be found there.

Very true! I just got a message from the seller and he didn't get any warning for this.

Sounding more like harassment for some reason.

I forgot to mention, I've got over $110 eBay bucks. That's how much business I do on eBay!

For those that don't know, that's about $5,500 in the past two months.
