Mayo Clinic researchers report that antibiotics, antidepressants and painkiller opioids are the most common prescriptions given to Americans. Twenty percent of U.S. patients were also found to be on five or more prescription medications. [link to atlanta.cbslocal.com] meh...I figure 90%+ of GLPeers are on pharmies too AND not just Nexium for heartburn. Most elite blue name one percenters are more than likely the biggest purchasers too. Wait for the power to go out for them...no meds AND no GLPee. Imagine that the % would be higher had they also counted those on pharmaceuticals without a prescription. |

When I get asked what meds I take (since I'm 48, I must take something, right?) I reply, nothing. I get this puzzled look. I reply, I watch what I eat, exercise and keep drugs and toxins out of my body the best I can. I don't want or need to be depending on shit like prescription drugs if shit hits the fan. |

They are a large chunk of the population and they are getting old. Quoting: *Evan At least I hope that helps explain it, because 70% is an insane number. this... and as far as antibiotics... few people are constantly (as in every day for a year) taking them*.more like people take them every day for 5-10 days, but if someone looked to see if that person had a prescription in the past year, it'd come up as they had. *i have never heard of this, but maybe someone? the longest i've heard of is 30 days. |

What the heck? Of course, I will tell you a story which I find relatively common in moms today. Little Johnny has ADHD (which he probably wouldn't have if he ate real food). Mom gets him a prescription. This causes another symptom and mom gets him another med such as a sleeping pill. That in turn causes another (by not Johnny is showing signs of bi-polar or schizophrenia) and gets another med which in turn causes Tourettes ticks. There have been several times I have really wanted to turn parents in for child abuse for over-medicating their children. There's nothing like mothers who micromanage and have a touch of munchausen. |

By diagnosing unwanted behavior as mental illness, psychiatrists, Szasz argues, absolve individuals of responsibility for their actions and instead blame their alleged illness. He also critiques Freudian psychology as a pseudoscience and warns against the dangerous overreach of psychiatry into all aspects of modern life. |

There have been several times I have really wanted to turn parents in for child abuse for over-medicating their children. There's nothing like mothers who micromanage and have a touch of munchausen. Glad you said mothers. More males/boys are on meds than girls. Most of the people recommending that these boys be on drugs are female. Teacher (female) can't handle the male child. Referred to school psychologist (female) who then contacts the school (female) principal. She then calls the mother who can't handle the male child because many times there is no father in the immediate picture. Taken to doctors that have a stake in pushing for big pharma...so it doesn't matter the gender of the doctor. Girls...stop opening your legs for every Tom, Dick n Harry that comes along. Guys...stop sticking your wieners in a bunch of worthless breeders that can't handle parental responsibility OR take care of themselves AND have absolutely no intention of raising a decent male child. It interferes to much with their socializing and partying/dating life when their own parents or friends grow tired of nightly free babysitting while these great mothers are out living it up. |

All these drugs do is keep everyone in the middle and manageable. They take away motivation and the will to innovate. YOu have far too much faith in people and the spirit of goodness. Most of these people have been horribly abused, beaten down for years- they are broken, damaged people. Even if you took away the evil overlords and the system that has warped them this way, you still have twisted victims who often mutate into victimizers. Its like a dog that has spent the first 5 years of its life abused and tortured turning it into a vicious, psychotic dog- even if you transplant that dog to the best of circumstances, its still going to be vicious due to its conditioning. As much as they may want to forget, the memory of evil lives long after the evil event. |
