I predict that all we get out of this is a lot of posturing. If the US & Europe were to get into a hot war with the USSR, then come winter, and winter is only 5 or 6 months away, then the USSR would either cut off Europe's oil, or charge really high prices for it. That would be very bad for Europe. So probably what we will get is lots of posturing and rumors of war, but nothing very big will happen between the major powers. All this would tend to boost the price of oil though... This is probably an all hat and no cattle kind of war.

So maybe Isreal doesn't mind posturing, shaking spears and minor conflicts. Isreal has oil/gas now also, so they should like keeping the oil prices high.
