Yep, cloud services get your data out there where the NSA only has to seek one data site instead of a myriad of individual servers. It does make their work much easier. No. I said Private cloud. You are confusing that with Public Cloud. Two different things. Not really. A subpoena is a subpoena, and a FISA court has wide reach. The "private" cloud company can even be ordered to not say a word about the governmental access. yup....and you never know who your co-worker REALLY works for... |

One had the roof open up during flight at 34,000 feet. They took a bunch of planes out of service, but didn't replace or change flights. I was stuck at LAX for hours on end week after week while they still tried to service the same flight calendar with less planes. It was a joke. I feel bad for the travelers. It suks. |

Haven't released press statement yet. Quoting: Sloane I mean how does a sophisticated system like that get shut down? Would this be one of them there cyber attacks maybe? possibly...and if it is and the media decides to start being honest we'll hear about it....otherwise it will come out eventually. |

Even though they are telling the passengers that it was a computer glich....that is not what is being said in the 'backroom'. Anybody question as to why all of a sudden there is increased security at the airport? She also said that they increased the 'security' for the Western Seaboard. As to what is up? They are not talking, but there are some that are in the upper management that are really nervous. working with Positive Thoughts will result in Positive Outcomes. |

This is why enterprises are virtualizing multi-tier application workloads to continuously available private clouds with automated orchestration like MS Hyper-V with System Center. Hybrid private cloud, the way of the future. And I'm sure all the 'cloud' nonsense is the lay-awake-at-night product of some honcho in the NSA... the whole damn concept is a spy's wet dream. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 8084558 United States 06/22/2013 06:37 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Southwest cancels 64 flights after computer glitch CHICAGO — A system-wide computer failure forced Southwest Airlines to ground its entire fleet of airplanes preparing for departures late Friday, and at least 64 flights had to be cancelled even after service was fully restored hours later, a company spokeswoman said. Michelle Agnew told The Associated Press that 50 of the cancellations were flights scheduled for late Friday night departures in the western half of the country. The other 14 were Saturday morning flights scattered across the U.S. because crews were not able to get to airports in time to make the scheduled takeoffs. An estimated 250 flights - most of them on the West Coast - were grounded at least temporarily Friday night. The glitch impaired the airline's ability to do such things as conduct check-ins, print boarding passes and monitor the weight of each aircraft. [link to www.star-telegram.com] |
